Gathering Ruched Ribbon Video

Hello, Crafters.

This morning I posted a video that shows how I attached the gathered ribbon to this Pretty Kitty card.

I've called the video Pretty Kitty Gathered Ruched Ribbon.

It's quite a long video because I've shown two different ways that this technique can be done - no doubt there are other ways, too!

There's what I think of as the easy, regimental way - see photographs 1 - 4, and the fiddly, relaxed way - see photographs 5 - 8.

Photographs 1 - 2: this is the card I made on the video.

The card base is Mint Macaroon and the middle layer and Ruched Ribbon are both Emerald Envy.

I put a line of Fast Fuse down the join between the Mint Macaroon stripe design from the Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack and the embossed cardstock.

The ribbon has been scrunched up using a pair of tweezers as I worked down the card, pushing each fold against the Fast Fuse.

This is easy and it leaves the folds looking rather regimental!

Photographs 3 - 4: this is the card I shared on my blog on Monday.


I've done the scrunching in the same way as the first card.

The colours I've used are Soft Sky and Dapper Denim.

Photographs 5 - 6: the colours I used are Blushing Bride and Flirty Flamingo.

This is one of the cards where I stitched the ribbon and then pulled the thread to create the gathers.

It's important to do small stitches because the thread will be visible.

If you compare this against the previous ribbons, you'll see it looks more relaxed, that is, less neat than the non-stitched method. 

Photographs 7 - 8: I made this card before the video so it was ready for me to demonstrate the stitched ribbon method.

The colours are Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie.

When I posted the blue card to my blog, I hadn't been over the image with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

I have now but unfortunately it can't be seen in the photographs - as always, it did add a nice bit of sparkle!
