I had notification that my parcel would arrive on Tuesday - it didn't arrive! I had notification it would arrive on Wednesday - it didn't arrive.
I contacted UPS Customer Services and was told the driver couldn't find my address! What a load of baloney? In this day and age of SatNav that obviously was not the truth!
I was told my parcel would be delivered on Friday - it was delivered yesterday by my regular driver who had just returned from his holiday.
There was a sticker on the back of the parcel which read "Misload"! See the last photograph!
Obviously, the truth was that my parcel had been loaded onto the wrong lorry on Tuesday, was in the warehouse on Wednesday being correctly sorted ready for delivery on Thursday!
Why didn't they tell me a mistake had been made? Mistakes do happen, even with normally great companies like UPS!
My greatest critic, hubby, doesn't like today's card because he doesn't like black cards! Yesterday, I decided to make a card with an image stamped in our White Craft Ink on Basic Black Cardstock (CS). I'd seen a post on Facebook of a test carried out on ten white inks, and Stampin' Up! Craft Whisper White Ink came out best!
I'm not sure I have ever used this ink for stamping, although I have used it plenty of times for sponging edges.
I used the Merry Medley Background Stamp using Whisper White Craft Ink on Basic Black CS. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and wonder what it would look like on Cherry Cobbler or Garden Green CS!
To
make today's card I started with a base of Basic Black CS, then a Layer
of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and my stamped Merry Medley image for the
top.
I
used the large plain star in the Starlight Thinlits Dies and die cut a
star out of the uppermost part of the image in the centre of the sheet.
I then took
the smallest patterned star die and die cut a star from the centre of
the star I'd already die cut from the centre using the large plain star
die.
Then I took the smallest star outline die, and die cut using a
scrap of the Dazzling Diamonds Paper.
I
adhered the image layer to the Glimmer Paper using Glue Dots. To adhere
the black star, I rolled a few Glue Dots into small dots and put them on the
back of the larger areas of cardstock and I also put some Tombow at the
end of all eight points.
I put this under a weight for a few minutes
while I carried on with something else. Then I came back to it and added
the small Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper star using a Glue Dot.
I thought about adding a separate sentiment but decided against it!
That's about it for today, Unti tomorrow, Happy crafting. JanB.
I had
a great time yesterday catching up with my daughter and hearing all
about her fabulous weekend adventure. She said it was a fantastic
experience and she was so pleased she'd done it.
The last climb was Snowdon and this was done in the dry which meant the view they had from the peak was, in Vicki's words, absolutely awesome! Then the heavens opened! When
I made yesterday's Merry Medley card, before I heat embossed the white
onto the Dapper Denim, I heat embossed white onto some Copper Foil.
I
wasn't very happy with it, which is why I moved onto Dapper Denim. I put
the Copper Foil onto one side and forgot about it until I started
working on today's card.
I decided to do a similar card to the three
stocking card I posted here on 5th September except I'd use the
white-embossed Copper Foil.
For
the card base, I used Whisper White Cardstock, then a layer of Copper
Foil and a top layer of the Whisper White Fancy Frost Specialty Designer
Series Paper. I adhered these three together using Tombow. I
used the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies and die cut three large
plain stockings, the NOEL and three bows from the white white-embossed Copper Foil. I took some plain Copper Foil
and die cut three sock heels and three sock toes.
I adhered these to the
stockings using Tombow. Then I took some scrap Whisper White Cardstock
and die cut three sock tops that had the zig zag edge.
Doing one at a
time so the glue didn't dry too quickly, I applied a thick layer of Tombow to the sock top and then
sprinkled White Mica Flakes over the glue. I put them to one side to
dry.
I love the effect this Mica gives but next time I won't apply the
Tombow so thickly, as it took a long time to dry!
I
adhered the sock tops to the stockings. Then I took one Glue Dot for
each bow, rolled it into a ball and adhered to the back of the bow.
Then
I attached the bow to the top of the Sock Top. I'm really very
impressed with this Mica, the effect is superb!
It comes as a pack of
three - white, gold and green! See page 41 in the Christmas catalogue. I
adhered the Noel to the card front using Tombow and then the three
stockings, also with Tombow. My final touch was to add a Rhinestone to
the centre of each of the three bows. That's about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting. JanB.
We had a great weekend with our grandchildren, Jack and Molly but it was over far too soon! The four of us went up to visit our friend Liz. When we walked into her room the small helium balloons were still flying high but our large number helium balloons were looking very sorry for themselves.
Liz said she'd never seen balloons as big as these two, and I had to agree, I was surprised at the size when hubby brought them home!
When it was Liz's 90th birthday party last Monday, we weren't able to give her the birthday presents we had for her, because she was surrounded by her friends and family, all giving her presents, cards and flowers.
On the day, we decided to bring ours back home with us and to give them to her when we visited yesterday. This turned out to be an excellent idea - another little party!
To make today's card, I used the Merry Medley Background Stamp I'd won in last week's Team Training raffle. I started with a card base of Dapper Denim, with a layer of Whisper White Cardstock and a top layer of Dapper Denim.
I wiped over the top layer with my Embossing Buddy and then inked the stamp with Versamark. I had the stamp laying on the block, face up, on a piece of scrap paper, so I carefully laid my top layer onto the inked stamp.
I folded the scrap sheet over the top layer and very carefully rubbed over the top layer making sure it had a great impression of Versamark. I removed the paper and the stamp and sprinkled it with White Embossing powder which I then heat embossed. I took another piece of Dapper Denim and wiped it with my Embossing Buddy. I chose the smaller of the two solid stars in the Star of Light Stamp Set and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.
I used the Starlight Thinlits I die cut it out using the large plain star die and positioned it so the white embossed star was right in the centre.
I sponged the edges of the die cut star using a Dauber and some Whisper White Craft Ink. Then I painted some wet glue, like our Fine Tip Glue Pen, all around the edge of the star and dipped it in the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I took a scrap of Dapper Denim Cardstock and die cut the smallest star, then I adhered it in the centre of the solid embossed star. When I laid the star on the card front, it almost disappeared so I tried to make a white layer it by drawing around the outside on the die I'd used to cut the star out.
The theory was good but I didn't like the star I'd finished up with! So I thought about putting the star in an oval of Whisper White Cardstock. Unfortunately, our largest oval wasn't big enough so I thought a circle that was much smaller than the star would look like a moon behind the star. This idea worked a treat!
I adhered the star to it using Tombow and then used Dimensionals to attach the circle and star to the card front.
That's about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
