October 2017 Thank You Cards
Hello, Crafters.
I hope you've had a great weekend.
Yesterday an Australian friend of mine asked if I ever use Designer Series Paper (DSP) as backgrounds, and what I do with my leftover DSP.
At one time leftover DSP was a huge problem for me, but I wanted to catch up with myself and only have current DSP.
One day I decided to cut all my retired DSP sheets into 6" x 6" squares, and packaged them up!
At the end of the month, and the next couple of months - I really had so much - I put a pack of 6" x 6" retired DSP in each Happy Mail parcel I sent to my customers at the end of each month.
Nowadays, I often use DSP, retired and current, for my monthly Thank You cards for my customers.
This is what led me to design today's card, which is my customer's Thank You cards for October 2017!
I wanted to use the round PS I Love You stamp that's in the Hostess Seasons of Whimsey Stamp Set, but I wanted my card to say Thank You.
I found the largest circle die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies fitted the circular stamp, and it left a decent sized edge for the row of stitching!
Next I went through all my stamps to find a Thank You stamp that I liked, and one that would cover the PS I Love You sentiment.
I found it in the You've Got Style Stamp Set.
Next I needed a circle die to cover the unwanted sentiment, and I had a choice!
I could use one that allowed a part of the "u" at the end of "you" to show peep through on the right hand side.
The other choice was a stamp that almost covered the dots round the circle of leaves.
I decided on the first choice but covered the part that shows through before inking, and then remembering to remove the cover before stamping!
I made the Lemon Lime Twist cards first, followed by the Powder Pink cards. The Fresh Florals DSP was cut to measure 3.25" x 4.75".
I used Tombow to adhere the DSP to the front of a notecard from our pack of Notecards and Envelopes.
I devised a way to take the guesswork out of how to get eight circle stamps out from one sheet of A4 Whisper White Cardstock (CS), and finish up with a minimum of waste!
I stamped the images using Basic Black Archival Ink, and I stamped the Thank You onto a piece of the matching CS.
After I'd die cut all the images, I used Marker Pens to colour the flowers and leaves.
For the Lemon Lime Twist card, I used Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst Marker Pens.
For the Powder Pink card I used Powder Pink and Emerald Envy Marker Pens.
I had planned to use Tranquil Tide for the leaves, but I picked up the wrong pen - what is known as a happy mistake methinks! LOL!
I'm really pleased with how these cards turned out, and I'm looking forward to making lots more of them!
I find making cards like this very relaxing!
I hope you have a great week. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
