Detailed Floral Thinlits

Hello, Crafters.

My first responsibility of the day is to go and cast my vote in the EU Referendum -  whatever the result, today is history in the making.

Yesterday I decided to have a play with the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies and also to use the new Big Shot Platform.

There are three dies in this Thinlits set, two detailed dies and one edging die. They are designed so that you can use the two detailed dies on each end of a piece of cardstock which produces a very decorative layer for a greeting card. The two dies can be positioned so there is room for a sentiment. Alternatively, if either of the detailed dies are positioned on a piece of cardstock and the edging die placed parallel to the jagged edge it will produce a layer with a fancy edge to it.

For my first piece I chose a piece of Sahara Sand that measured 4" x 5 5/8". The straight back of the die fits against the 4" side and leaves a tiny border around the three straight sides.

To use the new Big Shot Platform for intricate dies, I started with the Platform, then the Thin Dies Adapter, then the Precision Base Plate, then my cardstock and die/s and a Cutting Mat on top. I found it very tough to crank it all through the Big Shot but I persevered, and had success with just one run through!

I put the die and the cardstock onto the Foam Mat and ran the Die Brush backwards and forwards over the die to eject all the pieces. I lifted the die off and was able to pick up my cardstock minus, more or less, all the waste! It worked brilliantly! I think the problems we've had previously, are now history! Tomorrow I'm going to try die cutting the Glimmer Paper and I'll keep you posted!

To make today's card, I started with a normal sized Whisper White Cardstock base. I chose a design from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the next layer.

I cut one each of the detailed dies using Whisper White cardstock - this meant cutting one piece at a time, then changing to the other detailed die and using the edging die with that as well.

The width of the Whisper White Cardstock was the same width as the spotty DSP so it could be layered on top without pink edges showing through. I adhered both die cuts to the card front using Tombow.

I chose the sentiment from the Floral Phrases Stamp Set which is available with the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies as a bundle which saves 10% on buying them separately - see page 77 in the catalogue. I used Melon Mambo Ink on a strip of Whisper White cardstock and adhered it to the card front using Dimensionals.

Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
