I'm Bringing Birthdays Back!

Hello, Crafters.

I'm starting today's post with a question! Excluding the lower sentiment, is the message on today's card obvious or did it take a bit of thinking about? As always, feedback will be greatly appreciated! ☺


The sentiment is a new stamp that was recently released by Stampin' Up! It all started with Shannon at SU head office in Utah. She started the "I'm bringing birthdays back" campaign. It's an attempt at getting people to go back to sending real birthday cards rather than e-cards and Facebook birthday wishes. I think it's a great piece of marketing!

I've combined two ideas for today's card. The first idea is a follow on from yesterday's card where I stamped on Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the second idea is to bring birthdays back. I hope the message on my card is obvious but in case it isn't, it's a hot air balloon bringing birthdays back! I didn't hear any groans so hopefully I was spot on! LOL!

I started my card with a Basic Black Card Stock base with a layer of Blushing Bride and a top layer of a design from the Love Blossoms DSP Stack.

Using our Basic Black Archival Ink and Whisper White Card Stock, I stamped the sentiment "imbringingbirthdaysback". I layered it onto a strip of Blushing Bride and then a layer of Basic Black.

Using Blushing Bride Ink, I stamped the plain balloon from the Celebrate Today Stamp Set directly onto the DSP. I did think about stamping the balloon onto Whisper White and then die cutting it, but that would have defeated one of my ideas i.e. stamping directly onto DSP.


I used Basic Black Archival Ink to stamp the hot air balloon basket so it was attached to the balloon. Then I stamped the Happy Birthday, which is from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set, directly onto the balloon using the same black ink. I stamped another basket, cut around the edges and adhere it to a very small piece of  Basic Black Card Stock. I did this because I needed to cover up the ends of the string lines that are holding the imbringingbirthdaysback and I didn't feel the DSP would hold up to well on its own.

I attached the eight ends of Baker's Twine in place using Tombow. I adhered the basket using Tombow to cover the top four ends and also used Tombow to cover the four bottom ends with the imbringingbirthdaysback.

I had a small smudge by the letter k so I added a Rhinestone, then two more on the balloon to balance things up.

I didn't get round to making my video yesterday but will give it priority this morning. I want to be able to show one of each colour combo I've made but there were two combos that hadn't been assembled. All the swaps are now finished and I just need to photograph and make a video. I feel that I'm in a really good position as far as being ready for Saturday's Convention is concerned! YAY!
