I'm really pleased with the progress I'm making now in preparation for this weekend at the Stampin' Up! Convention. My plans for today include a video to show how I made my swaps - to be posted on Sunday.
This morning I uploaded my video called Timeless Elegance Cats which shows how I made the cat card I shared with you on Saturday.
Today's card was inspired, in part, by a card that was part of the recent training Show & Tell which I posted here on 25th. March 2016. This is the second card I've made that was inspired by this particular card. The feature I like is stamping directly onto Designer Series Paper (DSP). The Show & Tell card actually heat embossed the image on DSP.
The DSP I've used for today's card is the Go Wild DSP Stack and I've used it with the Wetlands Stamp Set. This is the first time I've used the grass and the birds but I have used the sentiments a countless number of times!
I started my card with a base of Basic Black Card Stock with a layer of Tip Top Taupe. Using Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the grasses on to the DSP, approximately half way down the sheet.
Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the wader birds across the Whisper White panel. I stamped one complete image starting at the left hand side and then cleaned my stamp.
Then I used normal tape to cover the three smaller birds and the small ripple of water between the small and larger birds. I inked the stamp in Basic Black Archival ink, removed the tape, lined up my Stamp-a-ma-jig and then stamped the second group of five larger birds.
I adhered the image to a piece of Tip Top Taupe and then a piece of Basic Black. Using Tombow, I adhered it so the top of the image was roughly halfway down the card.
Although I really like the images in this stamp set, most cards I've seen that have used it have looked rather bleak. I think stamping the grasses onto DSP has removed that bleak feeling.
That's about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.

ReplyDeleteHi, Pearl. Although I like brighter, more definite colours, my favourites are definitely soft colours. Now my swaps are made, I'm getting excited about Telford! ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
DeleteHi Jan, I sure hope that you are going to do a video on this card. I would love to make it, but the stamping seems to be a little complicated to me. I'm fairly new at stamping. I love how you made the birds just pop off the page. great job...Ann
ReplyDeleteHi, Ann. I'll be delighted to make a video for this card - many thanks for asking. ☺
DeleteI'll put it on my list for next week when I'm back from Convention. ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
