Hello, Crafters.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend, and that your weather was
as superb as it was for us here in the UK. Summer decided to
come back for another visit for a couple of days, and still counting!
Yesterday I made my first Christmas card although I wasn't
planning on starting until Wednesday when the Christmas
catalogue goes live. This changed because last week I was
working with our new Shimmer Paints, and yesterday I had
another idea which involved the gorgeous
Feathers & Frost Stamp Set!

I started with our Shimmery White Cardstock (CS) for the top
layer, and the card base, because I wanted to use my Stampin'
Blends for the colouring. This CS is far more forgiving when
using water to paint with, than our regular Whisper White is,
although it's not as forgiving as our Watercolour Paper. It's a
fabulous compromise because it has a gorgeous faint sparkle all
over the CS. I painted the leaves with the Light Old Olive
Stampin' Blend, and completely forgot about doing any
actual blending! I used our fabulous new Frost White Shimmer
Paint for the berries, and as I found last week, taking
photographs that show the beauty of this paint is nigh on
impossible...........for me at least.
In real life the berries look amazing!
To paint the berries using the Frost White Glimmer Paint,
I used an Aquapainter, that had an empty barrel, but
which I dipped in water. Next I dipped the brush into the lid
of the paint, which, by giving the pot a good shake, it had
a covering of paint on the inside of the lid, which was more
than enough I needed for this project.
To colour the robins I used Light and Dark Crumb Cake, as well
as Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends. I used the
colour lifter on the breast to lighten it slightly. I fussy cut the
robins, and stamped the sentiment by inking the stamp in
Versamark first, then in Cherry Cobbler Ink, sprinkled with
Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set.
I adhered the top layer to a layer of Cherry Cobbler CS, and
tied a piece of our Polka Dot Tulle ribbon aroung the centre
into a bow. I stamped a robin for the layer inside the card,
and a small layer of the main leaf image to get some
interest inside the card. After I'd fnished colouring, I was
horrified to see I'd used a sheet of Whisper White CS instead
of the Shimmery White CS! By the time I'd reached this
stage, it was too late to go back and re-do it, so for
the time being it stays!!
One thing I want to draw your attention to! There appears
to be red ink on the cardstock just above and below the
top robin's beak! This is an illusion because it's a reflection
from the back of the fussy cut robin caused by where
the Cherry Cobbler Ink has come through the Shimmery
White Cardstock. Definitely a lesson learned for me, and
something I will watch out for in future!

Really beautiful Jan. You've done a masterful job! Love this stamp set + love this card!! Also love using the Shimmery White Card Stock too ... it's a real favourite. Thanks for the inspiration and jump start, although I have already begun ... as you know. Have a wonderful crafty week and new month ahead!
