Cosy Cottage Flowers

Hello, Crafters.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday yesterday, and didn't gorge too much on chocolate Easter eggs! ☺

Yesterday, the Church had been decorated with loads and loads of helium balloons, which were in groups of three and proclaimed He Is Risen! It was a really beautiful sight and a wonderful service.

To create today's card I chose the Cosy Cottage Stamp Set which I haven't used yet - I still have fourteen unused sets! - but I didn't feel I had enough time to come up with a good idea using the actual cottage.

I decided to work with the bunch of flowers, but by the time I'd finished I could have used the cottage. 

When I'd finished my card I thought it was too busy - and still do - but Hubby thinks it'd make a great Irish wedding card! 

I looked at him totally confused and asked him how so? He said it's an Irish colour!

I pointed out that it's turquoise, not green, and he said it was close! 

I let it go, but did wonder if people are born colour blind, or can it develop over time? 

Putting that aside he thinks it's a great card!

I started creating my card by stamping the flower image three times, using Basic Black Archival Ink, onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), and coloured them using the 2017 - 2019 InColour Marker Pens.

Using Tranquil Tide Ink stamped off four times, I stamped over the flowers using the long, slim lacey patterned stamp fom the Touches of Textures Stamp Set, just to give it a bit of a background.

The colour came up looking very much like Bermuda Bay, which is why I chose that as my colour scheme. 

The pack of three Glimmer Papers that are part of the Myths & Magic Suite aren't named after any Stampin' Up! colours, just Iridescent, Light Green and Turquoise. 

The doilies I've used are from the Metallic Foil Doilies (page 194 in the annual catalogue) and come in a pack of 24: 6 of each in two sizes and gold and silver. 

I turned them over to use the white side, but it was obvious by the way the foil was curling outwards that it was the wrong side! 

To change this, I used my Bone Folder and kept going rubbing over the white side, smoothing down the curled edges until they were flat! 

I turned them over onto the silver side and flattened that side as well. 

It isn't perfect, but it's certainly flat enough not to spoil the look of the card.

I used the CONGRATULATIONS and the banner frame stamps from the In the Trees Stamp Set. 

It was really easy to stamp the sentiment three times using Bermuda Bay Ink, and then stamp the banner frame over the top; then I cut them out by hand.

I dry-embossed the top layer of Bermuda Bay CS using the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder.
 
Next I adhered it to a layer of Whisper White CS, and tied a piece of the Whisper White Organza Ribbon around the two layers.

I tied it in a bow on the right hand side. 

To decorate the inside of the card, I layered one of the other images that I had also coloured, onto a die-cut Turquoise Glimmer Paper scallop circle.

I didn't add any more bling as I thought the Glimmer Paper gave it as much as it needs, and a bit more, too!
