Yesterday I
was very thrilled, and so very surprised when I was shown the list of
the Top One Hundred Card Making YouTube Channels on the Planet, and saw
that I'm number 32!
The criteria used when this list is compiled is the
number of subscribers, video views, and video uploads; the quality and
consistency of the videos; the YouTube search ranking, and the Freespot
editorial team's objective and subjective review.
I'm taking this
opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of my YouTube subscribers,
because this is your award, too!
When I used it several
day's ago, I stamped and coloured the flowery image with the "Happy
birthday to you" sentiment, from the Label Me Pretty Stamp Set, but
didn't use it.
My plan for today's card was to use the image, but I didn't have any
idea how.
I
started with a card base of Tempting Turquoise Cardstock (CS), with a
layer of Whisper White CS inside and out, and a top layer of Tempting
Turquoise CS.
I started to have a look through my Stamp Reference File
(SRF), and stopped when I reached the Charming Cafe Stamp Set.
I
wondered if the Label Me Pretty image would fit inside the oval, and, as
there's only one way to find out properly, I went for it!
Next, using our Marker Pens, I coloured the flowers and leaves
with Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight.
Using the co-ordinating die from the Cafe Builder Framelits Dies, I die cut the
oval.
I played around with the two images I was hoping to use, and couldn't come
up with an idea where they did work together well!
So I went back to my
SRF, and started looking for a sentiment that would fit inside the oval
comfortably.
I decided to heat emboss the
sentiment on the top Tempting Turquoise CS layer, using
Whisper White Embossing Powder.
After preparing my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I measured the layer to find the exact
centre, and, after wiping the cardstock with
my Embossing Buddy, stamped the image in Versamark.
After I'd heat set
the image using my Heat Tool, I adhered it to the Whisper White CS
layer.
I laid the oval over the image and happened to notice ther there are two dies
in the set that die cut just the flower elements of the oval!
Next I stamped
another image, colour it as before, and die cut them as single strips of flowers.
I started playing
with different arrangements until I had one of the separate strips of
flowers under the flowers on the lower curve of the oval, but the other
way round.
As soon as I saw it, I thought it looked like a Faberge egg! I wonder if you thought that, too?
It was such a definite reaction for me, I went and asked hubby what he
saw when he looked at the card, 99% certain he would also say a Faberge
egg!
You can imagine how deflated I felt when he said he saw a wishbone! Grrr!
Next I attached the die cuts using Mini Dimensionals, and adhered the
top two card layers together.
To fill the space at the top, I tied a piece of
our Whisper White Organza Ribbon round, and tied in a bow at the front, and then adhered it to the card base.
I also adhered the second Whisper
White layer inside the card, and decorated the bottom with two more
single strips of flowers.
I was hoping to use just one strip because that's what I had leftover, but it looked lost on its own, so I
stamped, coloured and die cut one more single strip of flowers.
A clean
and simple card which I now think would have made a brilliant shaker
card!
Thinking aloud, I'm not sure if I could get the Foam Adhesive
Strip under the the non-flowery part of the oval.
I'm back off to the
drawing board to see if I can work this out, and if I'm successful, this
might be Sunday's video! Watch this space!
That's it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting!
