Are you a fan of washi tape?
I'm not, but I bought a set of the Year of Cheer Washi Tape because I love the designs and colours!
And all I've done so far, is to sit and admire it!
Today I saw a card on Pinterest where someone had used the widest design from the five rolls, and decorated about three-quarters of a top layer of cardstock to make it look like part of a sheet of Designer Series Paper - it looked gorgeous!
I used some temporary adhesive and adhered my top layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) to my Grid Paper making sure it lined up perfectly horizontally and vertically.
Leaving the first half an inch clear, I adhered the first strip so it lined up with the second half-inch on the Grid Paper.
I worked my way down the top layer, and had exactly half an inch spare.
Had I taken the trouble to work this out before I started, I would have known this would work out perfectly!
As I was working with gold again, it was a great excuse to start on my fourth packet of Gold Foil Snowflakes.
I also decided to use the co-ordinating Cheers to the Year Stamp Set to embellish the Snowflake.
I die cut the circle using a Layering Circle Framelits Die, and I die cut the word JOY using one of the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.
I also die cut a scalloped oval in Gold Foil using the Layered Oval Framelits Dies again, and adhered JOY onto it.
To build my card I adhered a layer of Gold Foil to a Whisper White CS card base, and adhered my washi tape layer onto the Gold Foil.
Finally, I added JOY in the centre using Dimensionals.
To finish the front of my card I added one large Basic Pearl to each end of word JOY to make it look like a plaque nailed to a wall!
I wanted to add part of a Snowflake in the bottom right-hand corner of this layer, but I knew from experience, depending on where I cut, I could have large chunks of the snowflake dropping off!
When I was happy it was centred correctly, I cut the excess off - very carefully - so I could use the remaining three quarters on other cards!
Hubby's going to his company's Christmas dinner this evening, so it'll be a late one in my studio for me today. Well, it's only nice to wait up for him, isn't it? LOL!
I think that's it from me today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Catherine. It was lovely making this not having to worry about whether the lines were straight or not! Just so easy. ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
DeleteOh WOW! Giver her some Washi Tape and turn her loose! Look at what can be done! I LOVE it! In all honesty, Jan, I've been a late bloomer coming on board with the whole Washi Tape thing myself, and even now I seem to work with it in spurts and then I forget that I have it! Never mind ... if you were to take a suite of it from each catalogue and come up with something this outstanding, it might just be worth it! Brilliant job, and in reference to your earlier fears of using too much gold? Can there EVER be too much gold?!! I don't thinks so! Especially at Christmas time! Thanks for a great SHARE this morning!
ReplyDeleteHi, Geraldine. I have to admit I never saw the point of washi tape but I'm happy to change my mind! I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing little bits torn off the roll, and used to anchor something on to a card! But who knows, if I'd been told six months ago that I'd be using washi tape by Christmas, I would have said "No way!" LOL! ☺ Happy crafting. JanB.
