Urban Underground Suite

Hello, Crafters. 

When I went to Natalie's training in January, she had prepared six cards for us to make during the afternoon. 

Three were from the Sending Love Suite which is primarily viewed as a Valentine set, but the three cards Natalie had come up with were nothing to do with Valentine, and included a Thank You Card as well as a Birthday Card.

She was demonstrating that this suite offers a lot more than the one occasion! 

In fact this applies to most, if not all suites - having seen someones project yesterday wher she made a girly project using this Urban Underground Suite.

It's just a question of thinking outside the box - sometimes I can and sometimes I can't! LOL! 

The other three cards were masculine cards using the Urban Underground Suite, which is one of the sets I haven't bought! 

I don't tend to make the cards at training because I prefer to spend my time chatting and exchanging ideas with other demonstrators, and then I make the cards when I get home.

But on this occasion, because I don't have the stamp set I made sure I'd stamped all the images; that way, I'd be able to make the cards at home!

On this occasion, I didn't make the cards when I arrived home and have just started on them!

Today I decided I have a go with the Urban Underground set but came up with my own design!

I started my card with a base of Basic Grey Cardstock (CS), then a layer of Very Vanilla CS and a top layer of one of the Delightful Dijon designs from the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I'd stamped and fussy cut three sets of letters for DAD from the Urban District Stamp Set while I was chatting at training! 

I adhered the three letters in a straight line down the left hand side.

I think they would have looked better if I'd centred the letters under each other - I'm not sure!

Using our Archival Basic Grey Ink, I stamped HAPPY BIRTHDAY - which is from Guy Greetings Stamp Set - onto the DSP layer in the bottom right-hand corner. 

I took one 2" strip of Basic Grey CS, one in Very Vanila CS and one in a design from the DSP - each strip being about 1/2" shorter than the strip underneath. 

I fish-tailed the ends using the Triple Banner Punch and adhered them together and then onto the top layer on the card of the card front on the right hand side.

The NUMBER ONE image had also been stamped previously at training, and cut out by hand, so I adhered it about halfway down the banner. 

To finish the card, I adhered a layer of Very Vanilla CS inside the card, and adhered another set of DAD, overlapping them to ensure they fitted across the width of the card. 

I prefer the letters put together like this, so I may well use the third set this way, too!

Having said that, I'm still pleased with the final result but it hasn't made me change my mind about buying this set...........yet!
