Rescuing a big boo-boo!

Hello, Crafters.

When I made yesterday's card, I actually made two of them! The second one was more or less the same as the first one, but I put the ship in a far more central position. 

I wasn't sure which way the ship looked best and I was going to share them both and ask you what you thought!  At least, that was until I stamped the sentiment! I pressed a bit too hard and managed to get some black ink from above the word Sending! 

It was almost an inch long so there was no easy way of diguising it with a Pearl or a Rhinestone. I decided to stamp the sentiment on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and adhere it over my boo-boo. 

All I can say is that it looked absolutely hideous; it was obvious I was covering up a mistake! I might have been successful if I'd stamped on a piece of Sahara Sand CS rather than Whisper White. 

If you look at yesterday's card and imagine the sentiment stamped on a piece of Whisper White CS, I'm sure you understand exactly what I mean!

I had to take drastic action to try and salvage something from the card! I hadn't decorated the inside of the card so I was able to cut off the back and put it with my Island Indigo CS scraps and I also cut out the dancer. 

Unfortunately, I couldn't save the ship as the sentiment was far too close! The challenge for today's card was to use the rescued dancer!

I started my card with a base of Island Indigo CS, with a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the same design I used for yesterday's dancer's dress which came from the Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I cut the dancer to the smallest size possible without allowing her feet or hands touching the edges. I layered the image onto a piece of Whisper White CS and then onto a layer of Island Indigo CS. 

I cut a long strip of the same DSP as the dancer's dress, which is the reverse side of the main piece of DSP I've used for this card. 

I layered this onto a piece of Island Indigo CS and then a layer of Whisper White CS. The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the dancer, which is called Beautiful You. 

Using Island Indigo Ink, I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White CS and then die cut it using the Layering Oval Framelits dies, straight cut number no. 2. 

I adhered this to an Island Indigo die cut scalloped oval from the same set of dies, no. 2. 

I adhered the card base and two layers together using Tombow, and then I adhered the strip of layered DSP to the left hand side. 

Using Dimensionals, I attached the image to the lower half of the front of the stamp, and the sentiment to the upper part of the card front.

Using Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the top two thirds of the dancer on the bottom of the inside layer of the card. Then I used the Bermuda Bay Watercolour Pencil and painted the dancer's dress and hat, and Calypso Coral for her legs and arms. 

I painted over it all using a Blender Pen and adhered the sheet inside the card using Tombow. My final touch was to add a row of three small Metal Rimmed Pearls below the dancer image. 

There was a lot of layering in creating this card, but I think it was worth it for the finished effect! I'd like to think this will teach me not to press so hard on my stamps, but I doubt if it will! LOL!
