Hello, Crafters.
I hope you've had a great weekend.
Sometimes
I surprise myself with the amount of patience I have, sometimes!
Yesterday was one of those times.
I love the flowers in this stamp set.
With the card I shared last week, the flowers were part of the Happy
Birthday Stamp.
Today's flowers are a separate stamp, so I was able to
do a line top and bottom. Then I stamped some on scrap paper and fussy
cut them, so I could adhere them on both sides to form an oval. I also
made three more to decorate the inside of the card.
The
real patience came in when I decided to colour in-between the thin
stipes of the letters!
Before I started, I stamped the sentiment on a
scrap of paper to see whether I was in with a
chance of completing it. The last thing I wanted was to start, get bored
and then get clumsy! It felt so relaxing and I enjoyed doing
it. I'm sure some of you will be thinking "You've got to be joking!", or something similar!
LOL!
I
started my card with a base of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), a layer of
Peekaboo Peach CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS.
Using Basic
Black Archival Ink, I stamped the Happy Birthday in the centre of the
top layer first, and then the top and bottom layers of the flowers.
Before I started colouring, I used my Heat Tool to make sure the images
were completely. I used Wild Wasabi and
Peekaboo Peach Marker Pens to colour the flowers and the leaves. When they were
done, I decided to paint the letters of HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Once I'd finished this, I
thought I'd join the flowers up with more flowers to make an oval. I thought of three ways to do this!
First was to cover large areas of the stamp with tape, ink the
stamp, remove the tape and stamp the image. I decided against that because the
stamp was far too big and would need several strips of tape. My patience
doesn't stretch that far! Haha!
Second option was to cut my stamp into
sections. I decided against this because I think I'll use this stamp quite frequently, and I didn't fancy having to keep lining all four sections up on the block each time!
I settled on the third and easiest soloution. I stamped
several images onto scraps of Whisper White CS, coloured them and then
fussy cut them.
I
played around with several different options before I finally settled
with the design you see and adhered the three layers together using
Tombow.
My final touch was that I adhered a layer of Whisper White CS on the inside and added three more fussy cut flowers.
That's about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
