This is my last Christmas card for 2016 and I'll be publishing the video at 7pm GMT this evening. I don't know if this card has another name but I'm calling it a stable door card. It was inspired by the swap I received from Jeanne Smithwick at the OnStage Local Convention last month in Telford - many thanks, Jeanne. I shared Jeanne's card - see last photograph - on my swaps video and I was asked if I'd make a video to show how it's made.
I decided to make it as a Christmas card, my thoughts flowing on from my stepper card and my bendi card. I can see this style being used as a wedding card, using the Seasonal Bells Stamp Set and the Bell Punch. Given the varying range of stamps we have, I'm sure there must be lots of different possibilities.
I started my card with a base of Crumb Cake Cardstock (CS). I scored it halfway and used my trimmer to cut off the top section, which gave me a stable door that's two inches tall (5cm).
I started stamping with the the sentiment which is from the Oh, What Fun Stamp Set. I used Garden Green Ink onto a piece of Whisper White CS, and die cut with straight die number five from the Layering Oval Dies Framelits.
Using Wild Wasabi Ink, I stamped four trees from Santa's Sleigh Stamp Set onto a piece of Wild Wasabi CS. I used my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to paint each moon-shape stamped onto the trees, and then I die cut them using the tree die from the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits Dies.
I stamped two Santas and two pom-poms onto Whisper White CS using Archival Black Ink and coloured the Santas using my Marker Pens: Real Red for hat, jacket and trousers; Smokey Slate for his boots, gloves and belt; Blush Bloom (retired) for the face. I punched the Santas and the pom-poms out using the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.
I'm happy with the result, just a bit disappointed that I have to wait until 2017 before I can send it to someone!
This is my last blog for two days and I'd like to wish everyone a very happy and blessed Christmas.☺

Love how you've done this card, Jan and can see many other possibilities also ... appreciate the extra care you took in backing your trees & Santa on the inside ... it truly does give a lovely finish. Appreciate your doing the video tutorial also. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Geraldine. I'm so pleased you like this idea. Definitely ideal for lots of other possibilities! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
