Christmas Magic Snowman Card No. 1

Hello, Crafters.

Before I tell you about today’s card, I want to tell you about my DVD cases that I store prepared card bases and layers in – you’ll see why I’m telling you about this, a bit later!

I keep two of our thin DVD cases that I keep card “layers” in – Layer 1 goes on top of the card base and Layer 2 goes on top of Layer 1.

Both of these DVD cases started with, and get topped up with, my standard size layers in Whisper White Card Stock (CS).

If I prepare any other layers that I don’t use e.g. dry-embossed layers, I put them into the appropriate DVD case i.e. Layer 1 or Layer 2.

I also have one of our thick DVD Cases that I call Card Bases.

This started out with, and gets topped up with, Whisper White card bases but I also put any other card bases I’ve prepared, but never used, and are of various colours.

I find it really useful to have these ready to use when I’m playing rather than keep cutting the basics each time!

Now on to yesterday!

I decided to play with my Christmas Magic Stamp Set because I hadn’t used it apart for the jingle bell!

I made three cards using the snowman image without having to stop and think what was I going to do next.

Ideas don’t normally flow that quickly, nor that easily, so I made the most of the moment and thoroughly enjoyed my playtime!

The card I’m sharing with you today is the first one I made.

I stamped the snowman twice using Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White CS.

I coloured him using my Marker Pens: carrot nose – Pumpkin Pie; holly leaves – Wild Wasabi; holly berries – Real Red; hat and buttons – Smokey Slate; gloves – Soft Sky; scarf – Soft Sky & Bermuda Bay; left twig arm – Soft Suede.

I opened my Layer 2 DVD case to get a Whisper White CS layer and saw a layer that had already been dry embossed using the Pine Bough Embossing Folder, andthe pines branches had been painted over with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

I knew immediately how my card was going to develop!

I fussy cut the snowman leaving a white edge all around him, and also leaving him a small mound of snow to stand on!

Then I used my retired Two-way Glue Pen and painted all around the edge of him.

Then I dipped him in my box of Dazzling Diamonds and he came out looking like a new man! LOL!

Using Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped my chosen sentiment on a strip of Whisper White CS.

I painted round the edge with glue and dipped it in my box of Dazzling Diamonds – the same way I did with the snowman.

I adhered the top layer to a layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and then adhered the card front to the card base.

Apart for the bottom edge of the top layer of my card not being very straight, I’m very pleased with card number 1!

Until tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.
