Hello, Crafters.
I chose to use the equally gorgeous Presents & Pinecones DSP. I was hoping to use Mint Macaroon for my box but I only had half a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock left! The red in this DSP is actually Cherry Cobbler but I really don't think it notices.
I made the red stripe design first and chose to use the Flourish Thinlits to decorate the box with. I die cut two of them from our Red Glimmer Paper.
The sandwich I used for my Big Shot was the new Big Sot Platform and the Thinlit Adaptor, then the Precision Base Plate, cardstock, die and one cutting mat. With this combination, you can have the Glimmer Paper facing upwards, towards the die. I still run mine backwards and forwards twice but three times on a video, just in case!! LOL! It's the perfect sandwich for cutting intricate dies. I made a topper for my box but decided I'd rather leave my box clear of any sentiments. But I changed my mind about as I was making the video and adhered the pre-made Noel on the box using Dimensional. I've designed my Christmas cards to follow through with this design and I'll do the same for the tags, too.
To create the topper, I had a base of Emerald Envy Cardstock which I'd die cut using one of the scalloped Ovals Layering Framelits Dies, then a layer of Red Glimmer Paper that I'd die cut using the next size down scalloped oval die. I stamped the Noel incorrectly and need to change the one that's currently sitting on the box!
The correct way to do it is to ink the stamp, which is from the Christmas Pines Stamp Set, with Versamark, then ink it with Emerald Envy Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Then you need to sprinkle the Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder over the image and heat set immediately. The result is a really deep glitter - it's beautiful. This glitter is also available in Real Red - see page 7 in the new catalogue.
As normal, I changed the colour scheme for the video. Although I had to stick to Real Red for the box, I chose a different design from the DSP and deliberately chose a design that didn't have any white in it so I could use the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for my die cuts. Without a doubt, I prefer the stripe design with Red Glimmer Paper. I wonder what the green DSP would look like with red instead of white! Umm??
The ribbon I used is the Real Red 3/8" Satin Stitched Ribbon. That's about it for today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
