Reversed Double Curtain Fold Video

Hello, Crafters.

This morning I posted my video that shows how to make a Double Curtain Fold Card with a difference - I've reversed the curtains so they look "open" rather than having them back to back!

In today's video, I made one of each design, side by side, as I went along to demonstrate how very similar they are to make.

The main two differences are the cutting and the folding.

The cutting for the regular Curtain Fold card is very straightforward.  

Although the cutting for my design is a bit more involved, it really isn't that difficult and certainly well worth the extra effort!

The second difference is in folding the curtains. 

For the normal design it's mountain/valley/mountain/valley and for my reversed curtains it's valley/mountain/valley/mountain.

Before I made the video, I made three Night of Navy cards, keeping to the same colour cardstock and the same Designer Series Paper (DSP). 

My reasoning was so that it would be easier to make a critical appraisal unaffected by colours, patterns, etc.

Photograph 4 - this is the first Double Curtain Fold card I made and the folds were 1/2" and 1". 

The only disappointment with this card, like the other two Night of Navy cards and one Melon Mambo card, is that the reverse design of the DSP, doesn't show up very much. 

I think it was a mistake to use a DSP that is the same colour on both sides and I also think the reverse design need to be a solind contrasting colour - as in photographs 1 & 2.

So that was a good lesson learned!
 
Photograph 5 - the measurements of the folds on this card are 1/4" and 3/4".

This smaller size means the curtains have an extra pleat on both sides.

Photograh 6 - this is my reversed design and without a doubt, my favourite.

I think it's a much better design because it looks more natural to have two curtains with the gap in the centre when they're open!

I also think the overall effect is far more balanced.

Photographs 2 & 3 - these are the two cards I made in the video. 

 The Pop of Pink Specialty DSP is my absolute favourite! I need to order a new packet as I have nearly finished my first packet! 

The Melon Mambo spot design DSP is absolutely brilliant for these Curtain Fold Cards because it's black on one side and pink on the other, two solid colours.

This means the pink shows through brilliantly at the bottom of each pleat. 

I really like the patterns in photograph 3 but the lighter colour doesn't show through as much as I would have liked it too.

I love the design and I love the DSP - I just can't fault it!.
