Corner Fold Card

Hello, Crafters.

I have long admired the corner fold card but have never made one, until yesterday, that is! As long as you have a trimmer, it's a very easy and straightforward fancy fold card to make.

I wouldn't normally make flowers in black and have no idea what possessed me yesterday to do so! However, I'm pleased with the final result! 

I started my card with a base of Flirty Flamingo, which is one of the new 2016 - 2018 InColours - not one of my favourite colours but it does go brilliantly with Basic Black.

To cut the flap, I opened the card base and laid the side edge onto the top edge of the trimmer (with the centre fold parallell to the top) and lined it up at the 3" (7.5cm) mark.

I started cutting at 5/8" (1.5cm) until the 3"(7.5cm) mark. I turned my card 90° to the left, and flipped the card over to the reverse side. I lined it up at 3" (7.5cm) mark again and repeated the first cut. 

If you try this from these written instructions, test this on a piece of scrap paper first!

I don't like the raised edges a trimmer makes on the reverse side, so if the reverse side is going to be visible, as it is for this card, I go over the edges with my bone folder - it flattens the edges a treat! 

Then I flipped the cut corner over, making sure I was keeping the square "straight". Again, I used my bone folder to make the slanted crease nice and crisp

For the inside of the card I inserted a layer of Basic Black and then a layer of Whisper White. 

For the image, I cut a square of Whisper White and, using Flirty Flamingo Ink, I stamped the splatter stamp from the Touches of Texture Stamp Set.


I adhered this to a layer of Basic Black using Tombow. Then I adhered this to the flipped square, again using Tombow.  

I die cut the leaf and flower from a scrap of Basic Black and the flower centre from a scrap of Whisper White. I punched the Basic Black circle in the centre of the flower using the hand-held 1/4" Circle Punch. I adhered the three layers of the flower together using Tombow - you could use Dimensionals if you want more height.

Using the sentiment from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set, I stamped it using Archival Basic Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White. I die cut it using one of the straight cut dies from the Layering Oval Thinlits Dies and then I die cut a scalloped oval one size larger in Basic Black. I adhered the two ovals together using Tombow. 

The final step was to slide a Glue Dot under the corner of the image flap to keep the flap down! This is a very attractive fancy fold card and well worth the small amount of effort it needs.
