Recently I've seen several cards where the creator has used strips of coloured cardstock or Designer Series Paper horizontally or vertically, leaving the gap between the strips blank i.e. so just the Whisper White layer underneath shows through.
The last photograph is a swap I received from Kerry Houghton and she used a Whisper White card base and adhered Sweet Sugarplum strips on it.
It's a look I like and decided to try it for today's card but as you can see, I filled in the blanks with the pattern on the reverse! LOL!
I adhered the top two layers together using Tombow. The pink and black strips are from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) and were leftovers from the Thank You Card Wallet that I featured on Wednesday. This idea is another great way of using up scraps! I cut a piece of the gold and white design from the same Pop of Pink Specialty DSP and adhered it above the strips.
I cut a strip of Melon Mambo Cardstock to put across the centre join and then, on the top of this, I adhered two thin strips of the same gold and white DSP. I took some Thick Baker's Twine in Melon Mambo and adhered it with Tombow to the back of the Melon Mambo strip.
Using Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the image of Bella and the bone from the Bella & Friends Stamp Set onto a piece of Whisper White.
Using the Layering Ovals Framelits die, I used a straight cut die for Bella and a scalloped die for the Basic Black layer for Bella. I adhered the two together with Tombow and then onto the card front with Dimensionals.
I'm happy with my card but I still need to do one with the strips and Whisper White gaps which was my original plan! Hey ho, another day!
Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
