More Best Birds

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday I told you I was going to have another play with the Best Birds Stamp Set again today and I did. I used two of the six sentiments that come with this set. I used Crumb Cake Ink to colour the birds but I think they look yellowy/greeny in the photographs!

I started my card with a base of Shimmery White Cardstock, then a layer of Soft Suede and a top layer of Shimmery White. I chose to use this as I knew I was going to be colouring with Blender Pens and Shimmery White stands up to this a lot better than our normal Whisper White Cardstock.

Using our Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped one each of the two birds, one branch and three flowers onto scraps of Shimmery White. I used Crumb Cake Ink and a Blender Pen to colour both birds.

For the branch I used Always Artichoke making sure I kept the branches quite dark and the leaves quite light. I used my Pink Pirouette Marker Pen for the flowers.

I went over the centres of each flower three times then the outside just once to get some shading. I used dies from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies to die cut the birds and the branch.

The birds matched up beautifully but the branch, not so well. I obviously didn't make sure I had the branch stamp on my block very straight! Lesson learned! I'll remember to pay more attention to that in future.

I fussy cut round the areas on the branch where I finished up with large areas of white remaining on the die cut! I fussy cut the three flowers because I didn't want any white left behind!

Using Sahara Sand Ink and the large background stamp that comes with the You've Got This Stamp Set, I stamped in the middle of the top layer. Then I used Soft Suede Ink and stamped the two sentiments, one above the other, in the top left hand corner.  More often than not, photopolymer stamps makes my Stamp-a-ma-jig redundant!

Next I used Tombow to adhere the branch in the centre of the top layer so the lowest part is about three quarters of an inch up from the bottom. Then I adhered the two layers to the card base.

I put Dimensionals on the backs of both birds, this time making sure I put some under their feet as well! I placed them on the card so they were both standing on the branch with the male bird standing protectively over the female bird!

I used the round end of my Paper Piercer and gently pressed in a circular movement to make the flowers curl upwards. I adhered these on the branch with Tombow and finished off with a Pearl inside each flower. I'm very pleased with how this card turned out.
