Laced Ribbon Card Video

I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

As usual, I was ready for classes yesterday by the skin of my teeth!

Also as usual, both lessons went well, we had fun and the ladies enjoyed the three projects I'd organised for them.

After I'd finished tidying up after everyone had gone home, I made a video I'd already prepared on Friday and then stopped for dinner.

During dinner I decided there was something I wasn't happy about the video, so I did a retake once we'd finished our meal.

I'm pleased to say I felt much happier with take two - just wished I could get it right first time! LOL!

Earlier this morning I posted my Laced Ribbon Video

I made the Bermuda Bay card first because the width of the ribbon - 1/8" - was what I needed for this technique.

It's the Stitched Ribbon that's currently in the Spring/Summer catalogue and is being carried forward to the new annual catalogue, that's being launched on 1st June 2016.

The second card I made used the 1/8" silver ribbon and Smokey Grey Card Stock.

This ribbon is also being carried forward, along with the gold ribbon.

The third card, for the video, was going to use the gold ribbon but I couldn't decide what colour card stock to use, without using the Gold Foil which I thought would be too much shine for such a large area.

In the new annual catalogue, there are going to be two more colours in the same range as the Bermuda Bay ribbon - they are Melon Mambo and Smokey Grey.

So my only choice was Melon Mambo but we haven't been able to order it yet! 

I wasn't going to be beaten by a minor detail like this, so I used some retired Regal Rose Ribbon that was 1/8" wide.

It doesn't look as good as the Melon Mambo would have done but it has done pretty well.

When I stamped the background stamps for the large and small butterflies in Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo, I used the baby wipe ink pads I'd made last week.

I also used it for the sentiment and flowers on the Bermuda Bay card.

I was really pleased with the results - that baby wipe technique really is something else! I love it!

It was one of the projects for my classes yesterday!

I'll share the colours we made later this week.

The card that inspired me to try the Laced Ribbon technique was a card that was part of our Show & Tell at our last team training back in March.

Unfortunately, I don't know who created this card - see last photograph - but it's stunning.

The photograph isn't brilliant but you can see where there are four hearts punched on either side of the heart.

It looks as if the ribbon has been laced through corner to corner - the effect is beautiful.
