Baby Wipe Technique

Hello, Crafters.

I had a lovely time yesterday having a good look at all the swaps I received at Convention last Saturday. It never fails to amaze me at the amount of work some demonstrators put into their swaps. After looking at each project I put it in a pile e.g. card fronts, 3D cards, book markers, etc. The next job was to remove everything from its cellophane bag and adhere the creator's name/business card/recipe sheet etc, to the project. Then I was ready to video them all.


As I show each project, I say something about it if I can say, which more often than not, I can!

Needless to say it's always a long video but I do like to make sure that my viewers really get something out of my video. Before I put everything away, I go through all the projects again and pull out those that have something about them that I want to use.

I've been saying for ages that I wanted to try the baby wipe technique but haven't ever actually done anything about it. But yesterday I did!

I've known the theory for a long time but wasn't sure of the exact details e.g how many wipes to use, how many colours or how many drops of re-inker to use so I was very much on a wing and a prayer. I remember someone saying that if you use one of the Stampin' Up! DVD Cases, you can close the box and carry on working with it the next day. I'm now waiting to see how long the baby wipes stay moist when kept like this!

Yesterday I made two cards using the same baby wipes. I used Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and  Daffodil Delight Re-inkers. I tried several different stamps and one of the most successful was this flower stamp from the Flower Shop Stamp Set. I inked the stamp by tapping it in the same position on the baby wipes and then stamped it down onto Whisper White Card Stock.

I stamped each flower by inking the stamp in a different position each time.  I used the butterfly stamp from the Perpetual Calendar Stamp Set in Sahara Sand Ink to soften the look of the top layer. I used the White Perfect Accents for the centres of the flowers. My original plan was to do five flowers in a circle like a wreath but when they were all adhered in place with a Dimensional, I felt it would look better as a bunch of flowers instead, so I added the sixth flower in the centre. I'm glad I did because I think it looks nicely balanced.

I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from Sassy Celebrations which will be retiring on 31st May 2016 - I'll really miss this once it's gone! I'm going to make a video showing how I made this card. It's super easy, fun and looks terrific!
