Poppies and Wink of Stella

Hello, Crafters.

Yes, more thank you cards!

I really don't know what these flowers are but I've coloured them red so I'm calling them poppies! LOL!

The technique I was experimenting with yesterday to create these cards, was painting with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

As usual I have posted the photographs with my favourite at the top!

For all the cards I used the Stampin' Up! Notecards & Envelopes and stamped the same images in the same places.

Using our Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the poppy from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set towards the top of the card front.

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Cottage Greetings Stamp Set, at an angle towards the bottom right hand corner.

Then back to the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set, I used the small double flower stamp and stamped it just underneath the Thanks.

My final touch on all the cards was to stamp the spotty stamp from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set randomly all over the card front.

I used Sahara Sand Ink for this.

The difference between the cards was the painting of the flowers but the colours were the same i.e. Real Red and Wild Wasabi.

Photograph 6: I squeezed the Real Red and Wild Wasabi Ink Pads to get some ink transferred into the lids.

On these cards, I used the Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Pen as I would an Aqua Painter.

I put the tip of the pen into the ink and painted it onto the card.

As you can see from the photographs the colour of the flowers came out quite pink.

Although I was able to get some shading into the flower, it was very hit and miss and certainly wasn't always in the places I wanted it to be!

I also found that I needed to go over the flower so much, it started to adversely affect the look of the cardstock.

My first conclusion with this technique is that it doesn't work well on our Notecards and should be used with our Shimmery White or Watercolour Cardstock.  
 
Photographs 4 and 5: I decided to change to a Blender Pen and the results I achieved were so, so much better!

I found that having previously used the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen with these ink pads, there was still quite a lot of glitter in the pool of ink in the lid!

This meant there was no need for me to go over with the glitter pen after I'd finished the colouring!

The colour took a lot more easily and far more deeply than when I used the glitter pen.

Photographs 1,2 and 3: I changed to using Marker Pens and the colour was vibrant, so beautiful!

I went over with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen after I'd finished colouring and the result was really gorgeous!

I haven't given up on the idea of painting with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen but next time I will definitely use different cardstock!

By the way, I used the Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to colour inside the two small flowers under the sentiment and is far more visible in real life!
