Hand-stitched vs. Stamp-stitched & Collar Fold Video

This morning I uploaded the video which shows how I made the Masculine Collar Fold Card I posted here on Sunday.

The card I made during the video has very slight changes to it - please see last photograph. ☺

Today's Hexagon card is a brilliant way to use up scraps of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and you have a choice: do the stitching manually or by stamping.

I've made one of each so you can compare the different looks and see which one you prefer - please compare the first two photographs.

For my card I used the Birthday Bouquet DSP. I love the colours in this collection, especially Mint Macaroon, Pool Party and Blushing Bride.

As our DSP (normally) comes in packs of 12 sheets of double sided paper, I was able to choose seven different designs out of a possible twelve. 

I don't like rainbow coloured cards, so I chose six designs that were just one colour plus white and one more coloured for the centre hexagon. This is as colourful as I like to go! LOL!

Using the Hexagon Punch, I punched out one of each sheet of my choice - for the stamp-stitched I stamped the stitches in Basic Black Archival ink before punching. The stamp set this stamp is the Six-Sided Sampler Stamp Set. For the hand-stitched card, I used my ruler and a jornalling pen to draw short dash lines around each hexagon.

Then I chose a sentiment from the new Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set called Party Pants because I knew it would fit into a hexagon. I stamped the hexagon onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock first, then I stamped the sentiment right in the centre of the hexagon. I did try stamping it nearer the top but the stitches went straight through some of the sentiment and it looked oh, so wrong.

For the hand-stitched sentiment, I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched it out so the sentiment was as close to the top as possible. Then I used my ruler and journaling pen to draw the stitches but I avoided drawing them over the sentiment.

For both cards I started with a Whisper White base, with a layer of Mint Macaroon topped with a Whisper White layer. I placed the top layer against the edge of my Grid Paper so I could make sure I positioned my hexagons in the centre vertically but over to the left horizontally. I used SNAIL to adhere the hexagons to my card, excluding the sentiment hexagon. I adhered the two card layers onto the card base using Tombow.

Using Mint Macaroon Ink, I stamped the small flower from the Pictogram Punches Stamp set eight times onto Mint Macaroon Cardstock. I punched them out using the little flower punch that comes with the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack. I adhered them in the centre of the seven patterned hexagons.

I was able to adhere one to the hand-stitched hexagon because I'd been able to stamp the sentiment to the top. As I wasn't able to do this on the stamp-stitched card, I stamped the flower directly onto the centre of the sentiment hexagon. When I was happy, I used Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the cards.
