A Nice Cuppa

Hello, Crafters.

After my visit to the hairdressers yesterday, I was able to spend the afternoon in my studio.

I decided that I'd have a play with my new A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set and the co-ordinating dies which are called Cup & Kettle Framelits Dies (currently on offer as a bundle). 

When I first start using new dies, I tend to die cut the more unusual looking shapes. I have to confess I only used one that fitted this category yesterday when I knew how I wanted to use it.

Hopefully today I will try the other more unusual looking die - the one that looks like four "petals"!

I'm also still trying to use Designer Series Paper (DSP) as well. So the first thing I did was to choose which DSP/colour I wanted to use. I chose the leafy Mint Macaroon DSP from the Pretty Petals DSP Paper Stack.

My plan was to die cut the "waves" from the teapot and the cup at the same time but I knew the gap I'd be left with wouldn't be very clear to see when adhered over patterned DSP.

I decided I'd adhere a small piece of Mint Macaroon behind each set of "waves" so the beauty of the die cut lines could really be appreciated!

To make my card I started with a card base of Mint Macaroon Cardstock with a layer of Very Vanilla and then my chosen DSP. I adhered the teapot, the teapot lid and the cup with Dimensionals.

I die cut three of the heart-shaped "steam clouds" and adhered them directly onto the DSP using Tombow. These were finished off with the Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Pen.

I think you can just about see the effect in the last photograph - hopefully!!

Using Mint Macaroon Ink, I stamped the sentiment from the Nice Cuppa Stamp Set onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and punched it out using the 1" Circle Punch. I adhered this in the bottom right hand corner using a Dimensional.

The word Mother is from a stamp in the First Sight Stamp Set which reads: I have loved you MOTHER since I opened my eyes.

I used sticky tape to cover all the words except MOTHER and inked it in Mint Macaroon Ink. I removed the tape and stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla.

I punched it out using the Word Window Punch making sure the M was right at the beginning of the Word Window aperture.

Then I inserted the punched shape back into the punch from the base and lined it up so the punch would cut off the blank area. I attached MOTHER with Dimensionals.

Tomorrow's video will show an idea of how to decorate the cup - so watch this space. In the meantime, happy crafting.
