In the Meadow

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday was like a big roller coaster - up and down, up and down. Fortunately I'm one of life's optimists so I ignore the downs. Our new garage door was fitted and my oh my, is it solid?! It's a metal up and over double door and no wonder it's so expensive - thank goodness the insurance company is paying for it! Although we'll make a contribution to it via increased insurance premiums next year!

My other two units for my studio arrived but I didn't have time to even open the box, let alone have a play with my new cordless screw-driver! It only took hubby about ten minutes when he arrived home to do the job for me. (See the last two photographs). After dinner he spent the rest of the evening sorting out my PC which is where most of my grief came from yesterday.

I decided to make a masculine card yesterday using the In the Meadow Stamp Set and the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack. My plan was to stamp the deer and then make a mask so I could stamp three lots of trees behind them.

Everything went according to plan except, once I'd stamped two sets of trees, I thought the middle set would rather swamp the deer, so I omitted it and I'm happy with the result.

To make my card, I started with a card base of Whisper White Cardstock (I should have used Shimmery White Cardstock!), followed by a layer of Basic Black and a top layer of Shimmery White. I adhered the top two layers with Tombow.

I stamped the deer in Early Espresso Ink onto the Shimmery White layer and then onto a Post-It Note, which I cut out. I laid it over the deer and stamped the trees once on the right hand side and then repeated the process on the left had side. As it turned out, there was only a tiny section on the right hand side that is actually touching the larger deer. It was at this stage I decided twice would be enough.

I took a sheet of the black/green/yellow marble design from the paper stack and cut two pieces just over 4" wide. One piece was about 3/4" deep and the other was about 2" deep.

I started to tear a strip off each piece tearing the paper towards me so I could see the torn white edge. I adhered the narrow piece above the deer and the widest piece below the deer. I cut the overlapping pieces off and wrapped some linen thread round this layer 3 times. I tied a double knot at the back.

I attached this to the card base using Tombow. For the sentiments, I chose two from the Going Global Stamp Set and stamped them both onto Shimmery White Paper in Early Espresso Ink. For I'm Lost Without You, I stamped straight onto a 7/16" strip. I put one end into the back of the Washi Tape Punch and lined it up in the centre of the zig-zag. I turned it around and did the same to the other end. Ta-da!! Perfect!

For the You Mean The World To Me, I punched it out with the Large Oval Punch. I adhered both sentiments with Dimensionals.
