Hello Crafters.
It's the start of another weekend and what better way to kick it off than with a fun card!
The stamp set I've used this week - and at last Sunday's Craft Day - is Wonderland. I hadn't bought this stamp set because I didn't like the antlers stamp. It made me think of animal hunting, antler trophies, and I am very anti-hunting (for pleasure). I told Kim, last Sunday's organiser, and on Monday, she sent me a photograph of the card that inspired this challenge card.
No doubt there'll be lots of different ideas coming out now, I'm very pleased to say! I would like to say thank you to Kirsteen Gill who made the card that inspired me to make this - thanks, Kirsteen.
I started my card base with Whisper White Card Stock, followed by a layer of Whisper White and a top layer, also Whisper White.
I die cut the oval using the Ovals Collection Framelits and then embossed it with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.
On the middle layer, I stamped the antlers using Early Espresso ink and then the Penguin from the Snow Place Stamp Set, using our Black Archival Ink.
Unfortunately, I was a bit clumsy with the black ink and made a smudge above the left hand side flipper. Using Real Red Ink I stamped the scarf, also from Snow Place, twice and cut them out.
When I ordered this stamp set, I forgot there's a co-ordinating set of dies to go with it! DOH! Not the end of the world because most of these shapes are easy enough to fussy cut.
I adhered the scarf to the penguin using Tombow and trimmed the tail of one of the scarves and inserted it to cover the smudge.
I'm going to make a video to show you how I made this card including what I did for the flippers.
Before I adhered the layers together I adhered a piece of 1/8" Striped Ribbon around the two layers and added a small bow I'd made using the "bunny ears" method.
I stamped the sentiment in Real Red Ink on a piece of Whisper White and used the Hexagon Punch to fishtail the ends.
I'm planning to get the video posted next Wednesday, which is the day before I go to Brussels for the three-day Stampin' Up! Convention - really looking forward to this. My plan for today is to make 120 swaps!!
I hope you have a great weekend and happy crafting.
JanB.
