Hello, Crafters.Today it's hubby's birthday but as we have an early start during the week, we leave our celebrating until this evening so I'm taking him out this evening for nice relaxing dinner.
This is yesterday's challenge card and like Tuesday's card, it wasn't inspired by any of the projects we made at Sunday's craft day!
I seem to have become stuck in a rut with heat embossing snowflakes - this time it's white! Taking a close look at this one, I think it would look a lot better if I'd heat-embossed it a second time.
I started my card with a base of Whisper White Card Stock with a layer of Gold Foil. For the top layer I used what I think is an icicle design from the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper. Do you see this design as icicles or trees? This is one of two designs in the set that is a single sided design.
I stamped the tree image in Versamark, sprinkled on some Black Embossing Powder and heat set it. I used Encore Metallic Gold ink (we sold it in last year's (?) Christmas catalogue or was it the year before?) to stamp the snowflakes randomly around the trees. I used the no. 6 die from the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the image and then the no. 7 die to cut out the gold foil circle. I layered the two together with Tombow, adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily to the card base and the image on top.
I took a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and brushed it over with my Embossing Buddy. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark, sprinkled it with Black Embossing Powder and heat set it.I used one of the dies from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to die cut the sentiment and then I die cut a piece of Gold Foil which I cut in half and adhered to the back of the sentiment slightly staggered to give an edging of gold at top and bottom. Then I attached it to the card using Dimensionals.
I attached the snowflake with a Dimensional as well and added an Iced Rhinestone.
My final touch was to add a bow tied with our Gold Cord and adhered at the beginning of the sentiment.

Jan, This is quite a beauty and I am surely going to case it. I finally remembered to sign up for your email alerts. I hope you will sign up for mine. ReplyDeleteI like this card very much. The doily really adds a lightness that matches falling snow. I don't know if the foil paper is supposed to be trees or not, but I love your idea of icicles!
You mention having used white embossing and to look closer to see if it would have been better to emboss twice - I'm sorry, but I cannot see any white embossing - only the black.
