Week 5 Challenge - Card No. 5

Hello, Crafters.

It's the weekend and it looks like it's going to be a good one!

This is the final card in this week's challenge - Other Uses for the Bird Builder Punch - and I have finally used the bird's body! It has been a lot easier to use the bird's wing for alternative purposes than it has been for the body.

Today's card features what we called windmills when we were young but nowadays they're called pinwheels. I chose Night of Navy as my colour and used the same DSP as I have all week. That is, the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (old design). I punched out four bodies with one pattern facing upwards, turned the paper over and punched out four more.

I then punched out a 1 1/4" circle and adhered it to my grid paper with temporary adhesive. I first tried positioning the birds' heads by overlapping one on top of the next one using the temporary adhesive.

I found it difficult to concentrate on getting the positioning correct at the same time as making them overlap. I gave up on that idea and removed the temporary adhesive. I decided to do one pattern first and then the other. This was sooo much easier!

I used Tombow glue on the head and adhered the bird whose tail was pointing north, making sure the tip of his tail was in a straight line with his head. 

I repeated the process for the south pointing bird, making sure the tip of his tail was on the same grid line as the north bird's tail tip. I then did the west and east pointing birds. Then I did the other four birds at equi-distance between the first four.

I punched out a 1" circle of Night of Navy cardstock and adhered in the middle to cover the heads. I used a retired brad for the centre. I cut off the prongs and adhered with Crystal Effects. 

I used a card base of Whisper White cardstock, adhered a layer of Night of Navy cardstock and then adhered a layer of Whisper White cardstock.

I put Tombow glue on the circle base, some on each bird body and a small amount on the birds' tails right up to the tip. I positioned this I the middle of my card. I cut a 1/8" strip of Crumb Cake cardstock for the "stick". The sentiment was from Crazy for You stamp set and stamped in Night of Navy Ink.
