Week 4 Challenge - Card No 1: Butterflies

Hello, Crafters.

BREAKING NEWS: Watch out for new items being added to the Clearance Rack tomorrow. Products in this section will have up to 60% discount but will only be available until stocks last - so check it out ASAP tomorrow morning.

Also during 1st July and 4th August 2015, there will be even more products available during the Weekly Deals. This is the regular spot where there are normally eight products available for one week only, with discounts of up to 30% but for this period there will be more discounted products discounted.

Today's card is the first in my Week 4 Challenge - Butterflies. I've used the stamp set Watercolour Wings, which is on offer with 15% discount if you purchase at the same time as the co-ordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies (see page 75 in the Annual Catalogue).

I've used a Whisper White card base, with a layer of Mint Macaroon cardstock followed by a layer of Designer Series Paper from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack. The butterfly is created by 3-step stamping. I used Always Artichoke for the first layer, Mint Macaroon for the second and the third was Always Artichoke stamped off once. I stamped the body with Always Artichoke. I die-cut the butterfly using the large die from the bold Butterfly Framelits. I also die-cut a butterfly in Vellum Cardstock using the middle-sized die in the Butterflies Thinlits.

I adhered a Doily on the card base and after deciding where I was going to adhere the butterfly, I stamped the antennae. I used Tombow glue down the length of the body of  both butterflies and adhered to card base. I put a thick line of Crystal Effects along the length of the body.

I stamped the sentiment using Always Artichoke and punched it out with the Washi Tape Punch. I also punched another one using Mint Macaroon cardstock. I cut this in half and adhered at each end of the sentiment which I then adhered to the card using Dimensionals. I left the card to dry overnight. Crystal Effects probably doesn't take that long to dry but it was very thick and it suited me to do it, so I did! I hope you like it - watch out for card 2.

In the meantime, until tomorrow, happy crafting.

  1. These are all so beautiful Jan, and I really love the use of the vellum for an airy elegance that is quite unique and special from the earlier ones even! Well done and thank you for sharing! Geraldine

  2. Hi, Geraldine. I've had this stamp set since my first order from the new catalogue but didn't start playing with it until yesterday - it is so lovely. More cards to follow during this week. Best wishes, JanB x
