Hello, Crafters.
Today's card was inspired by a card I received from Paula Gorry,
the Demonstrator Development Manager for the UK. I'm totally in
love with the Tropical Escape 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP)
despite not being overly keen on jungle-type designs!
The secret for the success of this fabulous paper is largley due to
the colours used in this pack. They are Basic Black, Blushing Bride,
Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce and Whisper White, which is
just three colours without the black and white.
The designers of this paper have made an excellent job of all the
flowers, leaves and patterns. This DSP is part of the Tropical
Suite which includes the Tropical Chic Stamp Set, with co-ordinating
dies, 0.5" ribbon in Granny Apple Green as well as Grey Granite.
Last but not least there are some Tropical Elements which are faux
wood accents styled as leaves and flowers in neutral colours. I
ignored them when I first saw them in the new catalogue, because
the flowers are buttons and I don't nomally like buttons on cards.
However, I do think this product may find it's way onto my next order!
There are three sentiment stamps in the Tropical Chic Stamp Set,
and the one I used says WITH MUCH LOVE & THANKS. I only
wanted the first three words so I cut the & THANKS off using
my Paper Snips. Please remember if you cut your stamps like this,
you will make your guarantee with Stampin' Up! null and void because
you have deliberately "damaged" your stamp by cutting it.
To remove the two words I didn't want, I cut in a straight line,
as much as possible. I wanted to be able to mount both
stamps up against each other on a Clear Block if I ever
decided I wanted to use all five words!
One of the things I really love about the Tropical Thinlits dies is
that the three leaf stamps all have two different dies to cut them
out. One of the dies for each is the usual type of die that leaves a
very narrow strip of, say, Whisper White Cardstock (CS)
all around the edge.
There is another die for each of the three stamps where it
cuts without leaving any border around the stamped image
at all - this is the one I have used for the leaves on my card today.
You can find the Tropical Suite on pages 120 - 121 in the
Annual catalogue, and if you buy the stamp set and dies at
the same time you'll received 10%!
That's about it from me today. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
