Underwater with Hair Gel Video

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday, I reached the 100,000 sales milestone in my Stampin' Up! journey. 

I knew I was nearing the milestone, but in the end it happened really quickly!

Today's video features a technique that I've wanted to try for years, yes, 

years! And I'm not at all disappointed - it's fabulous!

 I used the Sea of Textures Stamp Set and the co-ordinating Framelits 

Dies called Under the Sea. I chose Soft Sea Foam Cardstock (CS) 

for my card base and the top layer, with a middle layer of 

Granny Apple Green CS - I love both of these greens!

 Unfortunately, it was seeing some hair gel in the bathroom cabinet that 

made me finally try this card. Ideally I would have preferred to 

use blue hair gel, which I had rather assumed was what I 

had - unfortunately, it was just the tub that was blue!

  I'll have to get some blue hair gel and try this card again, just to

 see what difference it makes..............if any. 

Having said that, I'm really pleased with the result I achieved with 

clear hair gel. I find the little bag with the gel in very tactile - I could

 spend hours squigging the gel up and down in the bag!

After die-cutting the oval window from the top layer, I dry-embossed 

the sheet using the Seaside Embossing Folder (EF). The very first 

time I used this EF, it really did some serious damage to my cardstock!

To resolve this problem, I cut two pieces of our Vellum CS to fit the size

 of the EF, and put a line of Fast Fuse (now retired) or SNAIL along

 one edge on each sheet.

 

 I inserted both pieces of Vellum CS into the EF, one on each side, 

with the Fast Fuse edges by the fold. I now leave them there

 permanently!  It works a treat. I picked up this tip years ago 

from France Martin aka Frenchie!    

This isn't a messy technique unless you get clumsy with the bottle 

of hair gel. Apparently, the best gel to buy for this technique is 

the cheap gel you can buy in shops like Poundland - that's 

what I like to hear! LOL!
