Easter Daffodils

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday I stayed totally focussed, and was successful in making an Easter card! 

After the previous day's failure - in making my card an Easter card - I spent a lot of time while I was working today, on designing how I wanted my card to look. 

I decided I was going to use Daffodil Delight as my main colour, and one of the daffodil stamps from the You're Inspiring Stamp Set. 

The advantage I had making the Easter card is that I'd already played with all the Framelits in the Cross of Hope die set, which co-ordinates with the Hold on to Hope Stamp Set! 

Using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped the daffodil stamp twice across the top Whisper White Cardstock (CS) layer.  

The height of the daffodil stamp was much lower in real life than in my mind's eye, which meant the cross would fit in a lot better than I'd imagined! ☺

I used my Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Marker Pens to colour them, but found it impossible not to go over the lines on the stems and leaves.

Next time, I'll heat emboss the images using Black Embossing Powder, and hope that it will be much easier to stay within the lines! 

The background stamp I used was Marbled, inked in Sahara Sand, and stamped off once. The resulting level of colour is absolutely spot on - I love it! 

I didn't stamp the main cross, but just die cut it from a fairly dark design from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack. 

I die cut the cross in the middle using Gold Foil, and adhered it to the wooden cross using Tombow.

I didn't want to stamp the butterflies in Daffodil Delight, or Old Olive, so I played around with marker pens. 

I started off with the thumping technique - firstly, thumping Old Olive on to Daffodil Delight.

I didn't like that effect, so I tried it the other way round. 

I still wasn't happy, so I painted the stamp with the Old Olive Ink, stamped off, and then - without cleaning the stamp - painted over it with Daffodil delight.

This produced a beautiful yellowy green, so I painted two more, and die cut all three.

I adhered the cross to the card front but didn't remove the backing from the Dimensionals I'd adhered on the uppermost part of the Cross, nor the two at either end of the cross bar.

I needed them loose so I could attach the quarter-inch Double-Stitched Daffodil Delight Ribbon. 

I put the middle of the ribbon behind the uppermost part of the Cross, and when I was happy with the positioning, I removed the Dimensional backing, and allowed it to adhere to the top layer, and part of the ribbon.

I worked on one side at a time and used Glue Dots to keep the ribbon tails in position.

Then I attached the three butterflies as well as three self-adhesive sequins, to which I adhered small Basic Pearls in the centre.  

I heat-embossed the HAPPY EASTER sentiment from the You're Inspiring Stamp Set, using Gold Embossing Powder. 

I checked through my dies and found one the right size inside the Mini Treat Bag Ththinlits, which has been designed to look like torn paper!  

With the exception of going over the lines, I'm pleased with how today's card turned out!
