Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit

Hello, Crafters.

I hope you've had a great weekend.

Yesterday I said in my blog that I was going to look at all my stamp sets that I haven't used yet, and will work my way through them, making sure I do use them!

I should have said "products" I haven't used yet , because I was tidying my desk yesterday, and came across the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit!

I'm not sure why I bought this because I'm not into toppers, but buy it I did, and therefore I have to use it!

Using this kit, I made two cards yesterday, and for both of them I concentrated on the silver embossed, die-cut flowers and leaves on vellum.

I used my Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Island Indigo Marker Pens to paint on the reverse of the images so I didn't feel I was using just toppers.

At the moment I have no idea what kind of cards I can make using the coloured images, which are in fact toppers, but I'll worry about that when the time comes! LOL!

As well as the flower and leaves image, I also painted one of the long stems of leaves plus a stem of three bluebells; fortunately no fussy cutting inolved with these images!

I started my card with a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) base, plus a layer of Marina Mist CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS.

I dry embossed the top layer with the fabulous Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder, and then adhered it to the Marina Mist CS layer.

NOTE: The fabulous Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder is only available as a bundle with the Blooming Basket Weave Stamp Set, as a free gift for an order of €120/£90 during Sale-a-bration which ends on 31st March 2018!

I took a 1" wide strip of Whisper White CS, and stamped the long Happy Birthday sentiment from the Cake Soiree Stamp Set in Marina Mist Ink.

In the meantime, I worked out where I'd be positioning the vellum images, so I'd know where to adhere the sentiment, which is exactly what I did using Tombow.

Next I was ready to start adhering the images, and this is when the fun began!

For some reason, the tiny bits of Dimensionals just did not want to adhere at the back of the flowers and leaves.

In the end, I only succeeded if I held the small piece of Dimensional with my tweezers by holding onto the sides of the Dimensional, not the top nor the bottom!

I put my tweezers where I wanted the Dimensional to go, and used a finger  on my left hand to push the flower/leaf onto the Dimensional and the Dimensional onto the cardstock layer.

When it was in position, I held my finger on top and removed my tweezers.

Once the tweezers were free, I released the pressure I'd been applying to the Dimensional and it was stuck brilliantly.

All's well that end's well!

I can only assume that the Marker Pen Ink was still wet/damp when I was trying to apply the Dimensionals.

Therefore, if you decide to give this card a try, either leave the vellum to dry naturally, or carefully dry it with your heat tool.

To finish the front of the card I added one Clear Faceted Gem to the centre of the largest flower and one each end of the sentiment.

To decorate the inside the card I adhered a layer of Marina Mist and then a Whisper White CS layer on top.

I coloured another group of flowers the same as those on the front of the card, and adhered it in the bottom right-hand corner.

The last photograph is a close up so you can see how much the Fine Tip Glue shows through the vellum; it's not enough to worry me, but you may not be happy with it.

I'm really pleased how my card turned out, and I'm more than happy to make more cards using the vellum images!

It's the ready coloured ones that are going to be a challenge for me, but my brain is already working on

It can't be that difficult, I just feel it's cheating, because I haven't created the images!

Maybe I'll have to have a look at Pinterest to get some inpiration from crafters who don't have the same hang-ups as me! LOL!

Many thanks for joining me today, and I hope you like today's project.

As always, until tomorrow, happy crafting.

JanB.
