Birthday Blooms & Celebrate You

Hello, Crafters.

Many thanks for the positive feedback I received for yesterday's blog called First Product Review.

I'll certainly be more than happy to do a review again if I find another product that can be re-purposed in favour of crafters!

For yesterday's card, I used part of the eclipse technique even though my card isn't an eclipse card; that is, I layered the CELEBRATE and the YOU die cuts.

I started my card with a base of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), then a layer of Soft Sky CS, and a top layer of Whisper White CS.

After I'd adhered the top two layers together, I remembered I wanted to dry emboss the top layer! Grrr!

As an alternative, I created my own background by using the little stamp of a cluster of seven dots, from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set, and stamped randomly using Soft Sky Ink stamped off once.

I found five images of the small flowers from this stamp set that had already been painted, and fussy cut - they were left-over from a previous project!

I chose three of them to be used on the front of my card, and used my bone-folder to give a little bit of a curl to the petals.

I adhered them with two Mini Dimensionals to a Whisper White CS square I'd die cut using a square Stitched Shape Framelits Die.

Next I adhered each of these squares onto a Soft Sky CS scalloped square which I'd die cut using the Layering Squares Framelits dies.

Then I adhered the squares in a diagonal line from the top right hand side down to the bottom left hand corner.

I also added some Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes to the flowers to look like dew drops.

I sorted out some scraps of Soft Sky CS from the folder, and die cut six CELEBRATE words and six YOU words.

Using the Fine-tip Glue Pen I adhered all the layers together, and discovered it would have been better to work from the bottom upwards with the words the right round.

I did it with the back of the words facing me, and it's resulted in the layers being slightly off as I made my way to the top.

It's not terribly obvious, but I'd be more careful next time!

I covered the top of each word using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen again, and sprinkled a very generous amount of the Dazzling Diammonds Stampin' Glitter all over the words.

I left it to dry for about twenty minutes while I was doing over things, and then shook of the excess Dazzling Diamonds.

I was somewhat surprised at how wet the glue still was, and put it to one side - it took a couple of hours to be really dry.

Next I adhered a layer of Soft Sky CS and Whisper White CS inside the card, and adhered a single strip of Soft Sky CS punched with the Decorated Ribbon Punch.

I adhered the last two fussy cut flowers at the end on the right hand side.

At the weekend I was getting my cards bagged up ready to be sold, and was amozed at homw many Soft Sky, Pool Party and various pink cards I've made.

It's obvious which ate my faourite colours, but I really must vary it a bit more!

I hope you've enjoyed today's blog! Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
