I hope you had a great weekend.
Yesterday I chose to play with the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set!
This is one of those few sets that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it, and now that I've used it, I'm thrilled with it!
Fortunately I was in the mood for colouring yesyerday because it took quite a long time!
I decided I'd colour my mermaid's tail the same colourways as in the Stampin' Up! catalogue, and I used Berry Burst and Tranquil Tide.
I started my card with a top layer of Shimmery White Cardstock (CS), because it takes water slightly better our regular Whisper White CS.
I stamped the mermaid using Basic Black Archival Ink.
I used a Bender Pen and ink in the lid of my ink pads for my colouring.
For the mermaid's skin I used Powder Pink and an Aquapainter.
I gently soaked up the excess water with a kitchen towel, and repeated the process which gave the right depth of colour.
When I'd finished colouring the mermaid, I painted her all over with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen!
With the mask in place, I used a Dauber and Soft Sky Ink for the sea.
It was lovely using this technique, actually hoping for a very uneven finish!
The background still needed more, so I used the dotted stamp from the stamp set, and stamped all over using Soft Sky Ink.
With the mask still in place, I used Archival Basic Black Ink and stamped the seaweed four times at varying heights.
I stamped the sentiment - ever so slightly crooked! - using Tranquil Tide Ink.
I had a dilemma when it came to decorating the inside of the card: Soft Sky CS or Shimmery White CS?
Neither option felt right as I didn't think they complimented the front of the card.
I decided that I'd do another sheet of the sea, but minus the Rhinestones.
This worked brilliantly............ until I decided to use the small mermaid at the bottom of the page using Tranquil Tide Ink.
Unfortunately I inked and stamped in Sky Blue.
That's it for today!
Until tomorrow, hapy crafting,
JanB.
