Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday
I had a play with the Balloon Adventures to find the answer to a
question I've had in my mind since I first saw the set!
The question is
how easy is it to adhere die cut and punched balloons to the pop-up
balloons, in particular the middle one?
The same question applies to
heat embossed sentiments on the banner.
I question this because both
need to have a fold going right through them.
The answer is that they
work surprising well!
I
punched the larger balloon using the Balloon Bouquet Punch and placed
it in position on the pop-up die cut, so I could place a mark top and
bottom where I needed it to fold.
I wouldn't try to fold this freehand
as the fold would look untidy.
I placed it face down on my score board
and scored the line - it worked perfectly!
I
took the sentiment from the Best Bird Stamp Set and placed it face
down, in a slightly curved position, on to the die cut pop-up banner.
When I was happy the curve was about right, I placed a clear block onto
of it so I could pick it up for stamping without re-arranging the curve!
I
wiped over the banner with my Embossing Buddy, stamped the sentiment in
Versamark and heat embossed using the Copper Embossing Powder.
Although
the quality of my embossing wasn't brilliant, I didn't have any
problems with the embossing cracking, when I folded the card closed.
There's
a stamp in the Balloon Adventres Stamp Set that looks as if it should
fit on the banner but I don't think that's how it was planned!
I say
that because, when the hand cut stamped banner is put onto the pop-up
banner, you can see two pieces of cardstock showing from beneath the
stamped banner.
If you compare photographs 6 and 7, you'll see that on
photograph 7 I've cut the visible cardstock off but on the shaker card,
photograph 6, I've left it on.
Even
though cutting the bits off the pop-up improves the fit of the stamped
banner, the banner ends don't reach the scored ends on the pop-up.
Whether that matters to you or not, really is a matter of choice!
I
didn't finish either of these cards off as I was concentrating more on
how the various parts work together on the folds and the banners.
I'm off to Amsterdam tomorrow, but I will write on my blog every day.
Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
