Reflections Technique Video

Hello, Crafters.

I spent a lot of time of Friday and Saturday practising this techniques using different cardstock and inks. 

I first tried this a few years ago when I saw a video by Dawn Griffiths of Dawn's Stamping Thoughts - thanks for the inspiration Dawn! 

There were 4 different cardstocks and three types of ink which would have meant testing twelve different combinations!

I didn't go quite that far but the bottom line is that I found our Basic Black Archival Ink, Stazon Jet lack and Memento Tuxedo Black all worked equally as well. 

Although I use our ink for everyday, I personally prefer to use Stazon for this technique. 

The cardstock I tried was our thick Whisper White, Shimmery White Card, regular Whisper White and Very Vanilla, and all four took well to the reflections techique.

Because I also used our new Watercolour Pencils and a Blender Pen for this card, I found that Shimmery White CS was best.

Photographs 1 - 3: this is the card I made on the video. 
 
The dress colour is Bermuda Bay and I used the same pencil for both the dresses. 

This is one of the great features of Watercolur Pencils i.e. it's so easy to change from dark to light, and vice versa. 

Photographs 4 - 5: the dresses in both these photographs are Rich Razzlebessry - another example of how easy it is get very different shades when using Watercolour Pencils.

Photograph 6: this is another Bermuda Bay dress but this time on Thick Whisper White Cardstock.

This is the card that made me decide this is the CS I like least although I do say on the video, this may be the painter's fault! LOL! 
 
Photograph 7: This is the design Dawn used on her video all those years ago - it hasn't dated at all. 

I now need to decide how I'm going to use this now to make a completed card. 

Photograph on the video: this card was a real surprise in as much as I didn't press too hard on the Watercolour pencil.

I wanted a pale red dress but the finished result is more like Calypso Coral!

The design of my reflections card is suitable for any celebratory event but I have chosen mine to be Thank You cards because the dancer has been made happy by someone!
