Mistletoe

Hello, Crafters.

I'm not sure if these leaves and berries are meant to be mistletoe but they are in my book, so that's what they are! LOL! Next time I see real mistletoe I'll have a good look at the leaves and formation of the berries to see how far out I am!

I started my card with a base of Emerald Envy Cardstock (CS), then a layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the pinecone design from the Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper (DSP). I adhered all three pieces together using Tombow


I took a wide strip of Emerald Envy CS and a layer of Whisper White CS that was 1/8" narrower, top and bottom, and adhered the two layers together using Tombow again. I wiped over the top of the Whisper White layer with my Embossing Buddy to remove any static or fingermarks.

The sentiment I used is from the Hang Your Stocking Stamp Set. I inked the stamp in Versamark first, and then with Emerald Envy Ink, and stamped it in the top quarter of the strip of Whisper White CS. I immediately dipped it into my box of Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool. 

Using scraps of Emerald Envy CS, I die cut one each of the two mistletoe branches as well as a stem of the berries. Then I die cut a stem of the berries in the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and cut off the round berries, which I then adhered to the Emerald Envy stem using Tombow. 

I played with the arrangement of the two mistletoe branches and the stem of berries until I was happy with the formation. I made sure I paid particular attention to the base of the branches and stems so that there were only two visible stems at the base. 

I doubt if anybody would notice but I wanted it to look like there were just two branches, meaning that the berries were part of one of the branches. I hope that makes sense - I know what I mean! LOL!!

This left me with a gap in the bottom right-hand corner that needed filling. My thoughts always go to a ribbon bow but I just didn't feel that'd be right with this design! 

I die cut two Emerald Envy and two Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper bows from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies. The two bows sit on top of each other beautifully and it was a question of trying, green with white, white with green, two white and two green bows. I decided the two
Emerald Envy bows looked best together. 

The final touch was to use my hand held 1/8" Circle Punch to punch a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper circle, which I adhered to the centre of the two bows using Tombow. I'm really pleased with the finished effect of the mistletoe and the bows, and wished I'd used them sooner!

This morning I'm off to meet one of my team of demos. I've never met Denise before because she lives in Coventry, which is about a three hour journey from where I live. She's in my neck of the woods visiting family and friends, and I'd said to Denise to let me know if she ever has time to meet up on one of her visits down south, and today's the day! YAY!
