Pine Cones

Hello, Crafters.

To create today's card I used a stamp i knew was in the box but had totally ignored it!! That is until I saw a card created by Stampin' Up! in our Success Magazine. I looked at the card but couldn't work out which Designer Series Paper pack it had come from, and then I realised it had been stamped. 

The stamp set I'm referring to is Christmas Pines and the stamp is like a background stamp with snowflakes on it.

I started my card with a base of Whisper White Cardstock (CS), then a layer of Garden Green CS and a top layer of Crumb Cake CS. Using Crumb Cake Ink, I stamped the snowflake stamp all over the sheet of Crumb Cake. I used my white gel pen and put a very small white circle inside all the snowflakes.

I took the sentiment stamp and used my Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Crumb Cake Marker Pens to colour different sections but my first attempt didn't work out very nicely at all! The letters and images were very blotchy. I guessed what was happening was that each colour was pooling in lots of places because it was taking quite a bit of time to get all the images hand-painted!

I cleaned the stamp and painted just the OF, COMFORT and AND using my Garden Green Marker Pen. I made sure I worked quickly so the ink had the absolute minimum amount of time to pool and stamped onto a piece of Whisper White. The image stamped beautifully! There were a couple of small white areas on the bottom half of the F which I coloured with my Marker Pen.

I cleaned my stamp and painted the red areas with my Marker Pen, again, working as quickly as I could. As it's a photopolymer stamp, it was easy to line up the COMFORT on the stamp with the stamped image COMFORT and was able to stamp the Cherry Cobbler in the correct place. 

I cleaned my stamp again and repeated with my Crumb Cake Marker Pen.I die cut the image using the Layered Oval Framelits and layered it onto a larger scalloped oval of Garden Green CS.

Using Crumb Cake CS and Soft Suede Ink stamped off once, I stamped 3 larger pine Cones using the middle pine cone on the stamp box. Then I used the middle patterned pine cone, stamped off once and then stamped on top of the existing image. I die cut them using the outline die from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies. Using Garden Green CS, I also die cut one large, four medium and one small pine branches.

Using Tombow, I adhered the top two layers together and wrapped a piece of Cherry Cobbler Ribbon around the centre and adhered it at the back using SNAIL. Then I adhered this to the card base. 

I adhered the branches in the two corners using Tombow making sure one went under the ribbon and one went over! I
adhered the top right-hand side and the bottom left-hand side pine cones directly onto the branches using Tombow. Then I used Dimensionals for the uppermost pine cone in the bottom left-hand corner. I also used Dimensionals for the sentiment. 

My final touch was to paint all the pine cones and branches using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
