Timeless Love Christmas Card

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday was one of those days that I had to force myself to get on and do jobs that I really don't like doing - like filing. Ugh!! 
 
I have a very bad habit of dropping anything that needs filing into the bottom drawer of my desk. It eventually gets to the stage when the drawer is so full, I can hear paper scraping in the drawer as it's opened and closed. Do you know what I mean? LOL!
 
Maybe I should make my New Year's Resolution for 2017 to do my filing every lunch time. Errr?? Hopefully I'll have forgotten about that idea by the time New Year comes around! LOL!

To create today's card I used a non-Christmas stamp set that's in the Annual Catalogue to make a Christmas card! I'm really pleased how it turned out and agree with hubby that the idea could be adapted to make a great sympathy card, too!


To make today's card, I started with a card base of Crumb Cake Cardstock, with a layer of Mint Macaroon and a top layer of Crumb Cake. I went over the top layer with my Embossing Buddy to remove any static, and greasy finger marks.
 
Using the large oval arched floral stamp from the Timeless Love Stamp Set and Versamark, I stamped two images, one upside down to form a wreath. I sprinkled it with Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it.
 
Using scraps of Crumb Cake Cardstock, and the Copper Embossing Powder, I stamped and heat embossed two stamps from different stamp sets. Both of these sets will be available in the new Christmas catalogue, which goes live on 1st. September 2016. The first stamp I used was the outline bow from the Holly Berry Happiness Stamp Set. The second stamp was the Happy Christmas Banner stamp from the Seasonal Bells Stamp Set. 
 
I punched the bows out using the coordinating punch outline bows from the Holly Berry Builder Punch and I cut the banner by hand. I do have the die but I get a much smaller border if I cut it myself!

Using my Soft Sky Marker Pen, I coloured all the flowers in the wreath, the two bows and the sentiment. As the ink dried it looked very much like Mint Macaroon! I coloured the leaves in using my Mint Macaroon Marker Pen.

See the last photograph to see the first card I made when I started on this project yesterday.  I wasn't planning on colouring it and have no idea what made think to give it a try, although I'm really very pleased I did!
 
I still like the non-coloured version but I do think it looks rather plain against the coloured one! The layer between the two Crumb Cake layers is our new Copper Foil which is available in the new Christmas catalogue - it's gorgeous! 
 
I felt the base of the card needed something extra but I couldn't think what. I decided to stamp some small Christmas image, holly and berries, using Versamark to get the watermark effect. 
 
Unfortunately, I made a pig's ear of it and had to cover it up before I could share with you today! I stamped the smaller floral stamp from the Timeless Love Stamp Set onto some scrap Crumb Cake and punched out with a 1" Circle Punch. 
 
Although it's made my card reasonable enough to share with you, I need a better permanent fix and I'm open to suggestions!! Looking at it now, I may try smaller circles identical to what I've already done but layer them onto some Copper Foil. I'll share with you another day if I decide to go for it! 
 
Next time I make this card, I'll position the wreath further down, so the card doesn't need anything else aprt from the banner. Well, what do you think? Has using a non-Christmas Stamp Set for a Christmas card worked or not? I'll be very interested to hear your feedback. ☺
