Merry Mice

Hello, Crafters.

Yesterday I posted the new Christmas catalogue to all my online customers. I also popped into each envelope one of the special bookmarkers I've been making these last three days! I've also video'd how I made them. Hopefully, my customers will receive their envelopes by the time the video is realeased.☺

Yesterday I had a play with the super new stamp set called Merry Mice. I think this is going to be one of my favourite stamp sets this year, if not the favourite. It's a regular stamp set in as much as there  aren't any dies or punches to go with it! I thoroughly enjoyed sitting here just colouring!

I started my card with a base of Smokey Slate Cardstock, then a layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and a top layer from A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack. When I started colouring the mice, I didn't give any thought to what colour cardstock or DSP I wanted to use. It was only after I'd finished my colouring, I thought Ooops! what DSP am I going to use? I chose this design because it looks like snow!
 
I adhered the Glimmer Paper layer to the card base using Tombow, and then I used Glue Dots to adhere the DSP to the Glimmer Paper. Using Basic Black Archival Ink, I stamped the image from the Merry Mice Stamp Set onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.

I used Marker Pens to do all the colouring, except for the snowflakes and ground - more about that in a minute. I started with Smokey Slate to colour the mice. I chose Cucumber Crush, Mint Macaroon and Real Red for all the outfits - greens for the tops and red for the trousers, cap and hair ribbon. For the lights, the bauble and the present, I used Pink Pirouette and Soft Sky; for the lights I also added Pool Party.

For the ground, I used a Blender Pen and Smokey Slate Ink, and I also used this ink for the snowflakes, which were from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set. I die cut the image using one of the Layering Oval Framelits Dies and layered it on a scalloped Glimmer Paper oval that I'd die cut using the same set of dies. Using my retired Two-way Glue Pen, I applied glue to the hat, the hair bow and the lights and then covered with Dazzling Diamonds. Then I adhered the image to the card front. I punched a Glimmer Paper Bow using the Holly Berry Builder Punch. I adhered it half on, half off the image - part Tombow, part Dimensionals - but I thought it looked a bit lost. Using a scrap of red Glimmer Paper I punched another bow and cut out the centre part, and adhered it to the centre of the white bow. 

I die cut the Glimmer banner frame using the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies. The sentiment I chose is from the Cookie-Cutter Christmas Stamp Set. Using Basic Grey Archival Ink, I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White that was slightly narrower than the banner. I adhered the banner on to the sentiment and then adhered it to the card front.
