After spending a long time talking about it, I actually learned how to make shadow boxes on Friday!
I was so thrilled with the result, I made a video which I uploaded this morning! I've called it Butterfly Shadow Box.
For my video I concentrated on showing how to make the Shadow Box.
I didn't include detailed instructions about how I decorated it although I did give an excellent tip for an incredibly easy way to make antennae for butterflies.
I started decorating my shadow box by die cutting two butterflies using Whisper White Cardstock and the Butterflies Thinlits #137360.
I also die cut a flat bow from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits #137547 to make the antennae as shown in the video.
Again, using Tombow, I adhered the butterfly to the inside back of the box.
I die cut the large Whisper White flower, the three smaller white flowers, one Blushing Bride large flower centre and three small Blushing Bride flower centres using the Botanical Builder Framelits.
When they were all ready, I adhered the flower centres into the appropriate flowers.
I have several more ideas what I can do with these shadow boxes, so watch this space as they say! I have three large craft shows coming up in the next few weeks so I want to make some for those! They're really quite different from anything I've had on my stall previously!
My plans for today are to continue sorting out my DSP. I knew I had a lot but I didn't quite know how much was a lot!
My plans for this coming week include a hospital appointment on Monday (nothing serious) and I have to plan for classes on Saturday.
I wish you a very happy Sunday. Until tomorrow, happy crafting.
JanB.
Thank you so much for the template on YouTube!! I made these and I love them!
ReplyDeleteHi, Harrahx2. Aren't they great? I really didn't realise before I tried them, how easy they are! I'm really pleased you love these as much as I do! ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
Deletewow love it thnax for this great idea
ReplyDeleteHi, I Love Cards. I'm so pleased you like this and really hope you have a go at making one - they really are quite simple. ☺ Have fun and happy crafting, JanB.
DeleteHi Jan, do you think it would work out to make the shadow box frame with DSP instead of card? Thanks Becky
ReplyDeleteHi, Becky. It would work but it'd be very flimsy/fragile and I wouldn't recommend it. You could make it in cardstock and measure what sizes of DSP you'd need to adhere on the sides. That'd be fiddly but would look really nice. ☺ Happy crafting, JanB.
