Last Vellum Poppy Card

Hello, Crafters.

When I arrived home from work yesterday, I started working on my 120 swaps for the OnStage Local Convention in Telford on 16th April. Although I made good progress, I still have a long way to go!

Today's card is the last one of the poppy cards I made with vellum last week. I know poppies are traditionally red but we have yellow ones in our garden and a friend of ours has pink ones.


I daresay there are other colours available nowadays.

On Tuesday I showed you my red poppy card which I'd framed using the Banners Framelits Dies.

Today's yellow poppies have been framed using the Tags & Labels Framelits Dies which produce much slimmer frames.

 

Because of the sizing of these Framelits, you have to use a different technique to achieve frames from the technique you need for the Banners Framelits.


With the Banners, you place one Framelit inside the larger one, line them up so you have an even gap between the two of them all round and run them through your Big Shot.


As the sizing of each of the Tags & Labels Framelits is much closer than the Banners, you cannot lay one die inside the next largest die.


Therefore you have a choice:-


1). To achieve a very slim frame like the Tags & Labels Frame on the yellow poppies card. This is created by die cutting the outer edge of the frame by using the larger die. Then you place the smaller die in the centre of the die cut making sure it's centred correctly - otherwise you'll get an uneven sized frame.

2). To achieve a wider frame like the Banners Frame on the red poppy card. Choose two dies from the Tags & Labels that are two sizes different from each other e.g. use numbers 1 and 3, or numbers 2 and 4. These can then be lined up in exactly the same way as the Banners are lined up.

I started my card with a base of Hello Honey, with a layer of Whisper White and a top layer from the 2014 - 2016 In-Colour Designer Series Paper Stack.

I adhered the top two layers with Tombow and tied a piece of retired Crushed Curry ribbon around the lower part. Then I adhered this to the card base.

I stamped the poppies on Vellum using Archival Basic Black Ink. I coloured them from the reverse using Hello Honey and Mossy Green Marker pens.

I stamped the Whisper White background using Timeless Textures Stamp Set in Sahara Sand Ink. Before I assembled the poppies and the frames, I painted the poppies using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

The sentiment was from the Sale-A-Bration Party Pants Stamp Set which is now retired. I stamped the sentiment using Mossy Meadow Ink and framed and mounted it in the same way as the poppies. I adhered the poppies and the sentiment to the card front using Dimensionals.

I have an amazingly busy day in front of me today! I have to do my 120 swaps, my 8 Telford Sampler swaps, 12 Easter Lambs stamped on Whisper White and die cut with the 2 3/4" Circle Collection Die (this is for a friend of mine), thank you gifts for my March customers, prepare for tomorrow's video and create a card for tomorrow's blog. I think I'd better get my skates on now!
