Masculine Berry Basket

Hello, Crafters.

This morning I uploaded my video showing how I made the Double Z Card I shared with you yesterday. The size of the card I made in the video fits a regular envelope.


Last Sunday's video showed how I made a Lacy Double Berry Basket and I was asked if I could come up with a more masculine design - and that's what I'm sharing with you today.

After I'd cut the Crumb Cake Cardstock pieces I needed, I stamped both sides using Sahara Sand Ink and the Hardwood Stamp.

I found this to be a real challenge trying to make sure I stamped everywhere without overlapping and at the same time making sure I kept the wood grain going in the same direction.

If I were to make this again, I'd use our Corrugated Cardstock because that would make this step unnecessary.

For the trim around the basket, I took a strip of Burlap about 22" - 23" long and cut along one edge as straight as I could.


Then I carefully pulled out the threads, one at a time, until I had eight lines remaining below the top row of stitching.

To adhere this to the basket, I put some red sticky strip around the top.

I used the strands I'd pulled out to thread through the second to smallest size of our Basic Metal Buttons - 14 buttons in total.

I made sure there was a crossover on the front of the button and tied the thread off in a double knot and trimmed off the ends. 

I adhered the buttons to the Burlap using two Glue Dots for each Button.

With the four strands I had left over, I adhered a strip of red sticky strip to the Crumb Cake handle that I adhered to the basket.

Once the handle was securely attached to the basket, I tied the remaining threads of Burlap around the handle where it joined the basket.

Today I'm off to Natalie's training and managed to find time to make my swaps! I made some double Z cards but without decorating them - see last photograph. The reason we do swaps, is to swap ideas and my idea was the fancy fold of this card, not the decorating of it. All the ladies at training will have the pleasure of decorating their own.
