Just For You

Hello, Crafters.


Today we were going to visit our friend who's been moved to a nursing home near Stoke Mandeville but Storm Katie is blowing with gusts up to 110 mph!

Fortunately, we know Liz will have two other visitors today, both of whom we were looking forward to meeting! 


Before I write about today's card, I'm going to explain, very briefly, how I file my coloured cardstock and why I do it this way!

When I'm working on creating cards, I stamp, punch, emboss, die cut, etc. all sorts of bits and pieces that I think might go with my creation. When my card is finished, I'm invariably left with various bits and pieces which I save. 


My filing system for my cardstock is a unit of suspension files, one for each colour. Each colour has a plastic folder (open on top and one side) which holds complete sheets of cardstock, a plastic punched pocket (with the punched holes cut off) for all my offcuts and a Ziplock bag for all my stamped, punched, die cut, etc. images in that colour.


Quite often I find these images come in very handy next time I work with that colour because I can see if any of the images are suitable for my new creation.


Of course there is a downside to this! Sometimes, some of the images have been made using products that have since been retired!


I still keep them as I may be able to use them on the personal cards I make for my family and friends. Anyway, back to today's card.


For today's card I wanted to use the Just For You stamp which is from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) Stamp Set called Botanicals For You because SAB ends in just four days now!


I started with the Timeless Textures Stamp Set to create my background. Although it looks a bit "grungy" it's what I'd call a soft grunge - do you know what I mean?


I stamped the sentiment using Versamark and sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder, which I then heat set. 

I needed an accent colour to go with the gold and I also wanted some gold ribbon. I opened my ribbon drawer and saw this Bermuda Bay Ribbon. Decision made.........this will be my accent colour.

I pulled out my Bermuda Bay Cardstock folder and emptied the Ziplock bag to see what goodies I had in there. I saw the die cut bow which is from the Peaceful Christmas Wreath Stamp Set and put that on one side as a possibility. This stamp set is now retired but there is a bow in the Circle Of Spring Stamp Set and also the Wondrous Wreath Stamp Set.

I also found these five little flowers. The stamp is from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and they were punched out using the Tree Builder Punch.

To make this card I used a card base in Whisper White with a layer of Gold Foil.

I adhered the top layer, which I had heat embossed the sentiment, to the Gold Foil using Tombow. Then I wrapped some Bermuda Bay 1/8" Stitched Ribbon round this piece twice.

I adhered this to the card base and used Dimensionals to attach the bow to the card making sure they went onto cardstock and not the ribbon. I also used Dimensionals for the flowers and added some tiny Pearls to them to finish my card off.
