Party With Cake

Hello, Crafters.

When I arrived at work yesterday, my boss (my daughter) had put a hot water bottle on my chair to warm it up for me!

No, her house isn't cold but I've had a very sore throat all week and that's her way of making me as comfortable as possible. ☺

I thought I might struggle using this stamp set - Party With Cake - because I don't do multi-coloured cards and I didn't think this would work with just a couple of colours!

I think the result is a great unisex birthday card.

This card also gave me my first real opportunity to use my Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

As it's quite big, I worked on the sentiment first.

I measured the actual size of the image and cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was an eigth of an inch longer in both directions.

I used our Basic Black Archival Ink and stamped, making sure I was as close to the centre of my cardstock as possible!

Unfortunately, I didn't like it as there wasn't enough of a gap around the outside.

I repeated the process and added on a quarter of an inch and this worked brilliantly.

By adding the extra quarter of an inch I found it much easier to line the stamp up unto my cardstock. 

If you find it too much of a challenge, the Stamp-a-ma-jig would be very useful guide for doing this. 

I used my Gold Ink of Stella Glitter Pen and coloured in all the letters.

I matted this onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock.

I took another piece of Whisper White Cardstock and wiped over it with my Embossing Buddy.

I stamped the slice of cake three times using Versamark Ink and covered them in Gold Embossing Powder.

After I had shaken off the excess, I heat embossed the cakes and then fussy cut them.

I wanted to use some of the gold and black shiny Designer Series Paper (DSP) that was in the Christmas catalogue but didn't think any of the non-Christmas designs were happy designs.

I had a look through the DSP Stacks I have and found this Delightful Dijon stars and dots design in the Going Places DSP Stack which I thought went really nicely with the gold embossing.

I cut a piece that left about half an inch gap, top and bottom.

I stamped the sentiments on top and bottom. Then I layered it onto a piece of Basic Black.

I decided I only needed two cakes and layered them onto Basic Black circles.

I punched two Whisper White candles and two DSP candles using the candle punch which comes in the set of three punches called the Party Punch Pack.

I cut the flames off the DSP candles and adhered them to the top of the Whisper White candles, then I adhered them to the cake.

I adhered the two layers and card base together and then the DSP panel onto the card front, using Tombow.

To give the card some dimension, I adhered the main sentiment and  the two cakes with Dimensionals.
