Birthday Blooms and Birthday Bouquet

Hello, Crafters.

I hope you've had a great weekend.

Yesterday we visited a friend of ours who has been very poorly recently. We were so pleased to see how much better she's getting - it really made our weekend.

To make today's card I've used two products that will be available tomorrow when the new Spring catalogue goes live! Tomorrow also sees the start of Sale-a-bration! YAY!!

The stamp set is called Birthday Blooms and comes as wood mount or clear mount.

I'm not normally one for colouring but the flowers in this stamp set just cry out to be coloured....they are really gorgeous.

The sentiment is also from this stamp set - I love the relaxed font of Happiest!

The paper is from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper. The two designs I have use are back to back.

I absolutely adore this colour scheme. I've used Mint Macaroon and Blushing Bride but also in this set are Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Pool Party, Soft Suede, Watermelon Wonder and Whisper White.

I started my card with a base of Whisper White Card Stock with a layer of Blushing Bride adhered to it with Tombow.

I cut a top layer of the DSP and cut it in half - the flowery side for the top and the spotty side for the bottom. I adhered both pieces with Tombow, as well as a thin strip of Blushing Bride across the centre.

The first image of the flower was stamped onto vellum. But when I had finished colouring it I decided I didn't like being able to see patterned paper underneath it. So I put it on one side and will think of a different project to use it for!

I stamped the image again, using Jet Black StazOn Ink on to Whisper White Card Stock. I used Blushing Bride, Mint Macaroon and So Saffron Marker Pens to colour in the image.

I then very patiently fussy cut the image out. I have to admit that my patience nearly ran out before I reached the end.......but I persevered!

There were some areas where white was showing through. To cover this up, I used the brush end of my Basic Black Marker Pen and painted the white areas black.

If you need to do this, make sure your hand is at the BACK of your image. The reason for this is, if your hand slips for any reason, your brush will mark the back of the image not the front!

Using Jet Black Stazon Ink, and my trusty friend Stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner of the card base.

Then I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the image to the card base. I'm pleased to confirm that this product is returning in the Spring catalogue because it really comes into its own for jobs like this.

I painted over the flowers and leaves with my newest best friend Clear Wink of Stella Pen - no surprises there! LOL!

All in all, a very simple card to make.........it just needs a lot of patience with the fussy cutting!
