Bear Hugs Video & Honeycomb Happiness

Hello, Crafters.

This morning I posted a video which shows how I put the Bear Hugs Diorama Card together. I'd shown it at the end of last week's video as another idea for a diorama card and was asked by some viewers if I'd do a video showing how I'd put it together - so here it is with my pleasure.

I've been itching to make something using the cute chick on the Honeycomb Happiness Stamp Set and yesterday was the day!

It's one of the stamp sets that are available free as part of Sale-A-Bration. The bird in this set doesn't have to be a chick, it could be any bird but I chose to use it as a chick because I knew I wanted to do an age card.

The design I had in my mind was a child's card and therefore it needed to be brightly coloured, and therefore chicks were a good choice.

I started with a card base of Shimmery White cardstock with a layer of Crushed Curry Cardstock. I took the top layer of Shimmery White Cardstock and stamped the chick in the middle.

I used Black Memento Ink for the image and then stamped three more on Post It Notes. I cut them out to use as masks. I covered the first chick and stamped the second and the third chicks.

Then I covered all three chicks and prepared the stamp from the Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set. I did this by using a Dauber with Early Espresso Ink and covered the ground and the trunks. I changed to my Mossy Meadow Dauber and sponged over the trees.

I huffed on the stamp to ensure the ink was still moist. I positioned the stamp so it would start about halfway down the chicks. I stamped down once, lifted and moved up and to the right slightly, then stamped again.

I painted over the tree tops with my Wink of Stella Pen to spread the green around so the trees look as if they're covered in leaves.

To paint the chicks bodies, I used the Daffodil Delight Marker Pens and Pumpkin Pie for the beaks and the feet. I then went over the bodies with Wink of Stella.

Then I decided to use some Versamark and Black Embossing Powder to create the two sentiments and the number from the Number of Years Stamp Set.

This card would be great if it was personalised with the child's name between the Happy Birthday and the 3. What child wouldn't love this?

As I'm writing this I can see two more ideas for this chick. I think I'll keep them to myself and see if they work! Sorry, I don't mean to tease............

In case you missed last week's Diorama video, the last photograph today shows the Bear Hugs Diorama Card which is the subject of today's video.

I hope you have a lovely Sunday and until tomorrow, happy crafting.

  1. Love the baby chicks card ... really cute! I'm so glad that you ended up doing the Bear Hugs Diorama card tutorial too ... it was a big help, and it's just adorable! What youngster wouldn't be thrilled to receive it. Come to think, I know of some adults who would be delighted to be on the receiving end also; well done video, Jan. Thank you so much!

    1. Hi, Geraldine. I can see this being a very popular stamp set because it can be baby birds, too. I'm glad you've found the Bear Hugs video helpful. Happy crafting, JanB. ☺
