Week 6 Challenge - Using Embossing Folders

Hello, Crafters.
 
Although it took longer than I'd planned............ ................I'm so easily distracted when I'm in my studio! LOL...................I have both cards ready for classes at the end of the month but still need to work on the 3D project.

Today's card is number one in Week 6 Challenge which is going to show different ways of using embossing folders.

Although this card is a lot "busier" than my normal style, I think it still works.

I used the Lovely Lace Embossing folder with Mint Macaroon ink.

I brayered  both sides of the folder and then inserted two pieces of Whisper White card stock.

This was then layered between two cutting mats, placed on tab 1 and put through my Big Shot.

For the butterfly, I used the Watercolour Wings Stamp set together with Mint Macaroon and Garden Green inks.

I cut the butterflies out manually and adhered together.

The antennae comes with the stamp set.

The birthday greeting is from Birthday Blossoms and is layered on Mint Macaroon and Garden Green card stock.

The beautiful lace is the new Dotted Lace Trim that comes in all the five new In Colours 2015-2017.

The third photograph shows the de-bossed side of the embossing folder.

Looking closely at the large flower on the right hand side, it looks as if I may have moved the card stock as I put it into the folder.

I'm sure I can use this for another card...........as long as I disguise that part!

Photographs 4 and 5 show the results I achieved with the Woodgrain and Fluttering Embossing Folders. 

As before, I inserted two pieces of cardstock to see what the embossed and de-bossed sides looked like. 

I inked both folders by applying the ink pad direct.

The Woodgrain has come out very well but the Fluttering has a lot of ink inside the butterflies on the embossed side and the ink is very streaky on the de-bossed side.

I think this shows this technique works better with "closer" embossing images rather than those that have  lot of "open" space.

My conclusion is that I prefer brayering the embossing folders rather than pad-to-folder.
